Hey guys
battery failed today and like one day working next day NOT, it just turned the motor over and I mean just.
but there was no warning to say start motor now. I have driven over 8 hours and seen the amps going into the battery and battery voltage start at 14.7 and finish at 13.4 car running and the state of charge go from O to 68% All seem correct. But filling up at yalata 4 hours intonthe 8 hour drive was keeping an eye on the voltage thru the IID tool (motor off) and the volts keep dropping rapidly to below 11.9v, I had to get wife to start the car while I was filling up and the car just started again. I am at Ceduna and hope to get another battery tomorrow. I just find it weird that it didn’t alert me to a low battery.
Also if I have to jump it in the morning with a portable jump started can I put both the camps positive and negative to the battery.
been a interesting trip.

First thing to do is check the terminals then go to any battery place and get the battery load tested, you already know the alternator is working but they can test that at the same time.
My mechanic replaces a battery as soon as it starts to fail a load test on the D4 because they are so reliant on good power supply, I grabbed the last one he replaced even though its at least 8 years old now and 12 months later its still holding a average charge and okay as a jumper battery as long as it goes on the charger every now and then
They fail a load test well before any signs of a sluggish start
