Thought you might like to see this pic.
Me driving over Nappernerrica Sand dune ( aka "big red"). The largest dune in the simpson desert just outside Birdsville in Qld. Its about 80ft high and considered quite a challenge.
Last time we went across the desert we were unable to drive over it. 3 attempts and we just couldn't make it. This time we sailed over with no problems...both of us drove over. I was quite proud of myself for even attempting it as it is quite daunting.
The "buttock clenching moment" was a kick in the track on the way up where the back end of the LR drifted out as I took it a little wide and we both thought I was going to roll the damn thing. Luckily as I was going flat strap at the time I was able to somehow avoid it. But I did feel like a change of underpants may be necessary when we got to the top!!
Note Numpty hanging on for grim death!!

That's a great picture! Really captures the moment.

Have you got a wider angle pic showing the whole vehicle and more of the dune? That would be a keeper. If not maybe you can photoshop something together. I'd be willing to have a go if you don't do photo manipulation yourself.

Nah...never that bad. As I recall the comment from Numpty was "put the boot in it then!!"
He feels perfectly safe in my hands :-)

Actually, Barnsey of Birdsville Auto (since sold out) went over in a Valiant which evidently was doing 90 MPH (about 145 KPH) at the bottom. Also a picture in the pub of a Porsche with serious air breasting the crest.

Yeah... Great shot...

Guys......

If you're EVER stuck and need to get up/over/out of something... Its easy as...

Let the little lady drive...

This is a proven fact.

Women can get 4wds places no mere male can...

Why? I hear you ask.... Simple....

Women have NO mechanical sympathy....
If it aint screaming its guts out on the limiter, 6 foot in the air, throttle burried to the firewall... Then they just aren't driving as they should....

Let me present Exhibits (A) and (B) - Whilst this is my wifes vehicle, you get the point

The Launch!

https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2006/08/48.jpg
The landing....

I should point out it hit VERTICALLY, nearly end over ended but fell back at the last second onto its wheels.

This was the only 2 shots taken, the video guy didnt get any, he was too gob smacked to press record.

But try 3 meters of AIR, 15 meters from crest to landing....

It was awesome!

Obviously you're still lmpressed!!:) My Lady wouldn't go that far, although now she knows what it's like, who knows. But, all in all I trust her judgement, I even go to sleep while she's driving!!:o
