Hello readers and experienced RRS fettlers.
A re-engine and revitalization of a reasonable 2009 RRS TDV6 has appeared in my shed for this winter. What a glutton for punishment!
My first stop is to open the rear tailgate with no power onto the car for other difficult reasons.........
....... what technique can be employed to free the latch to lift the tailgate? Can I 'fly' 12v onto the latches? Where will access to those cables be?
I look forward to simple solutions that don't include a complete wiring rebuild!
Thanks
Pete

You cant sit a battery in it just to open it ? otherwise energise the 12S socket power circuit.

The situation is this:
I've taken on the completion of a commenced job, with an engine on the way out for replacement. The engine bay has been dismantled, with the systems disconnected, preparing for a body liftoff.
What is the minimum reconnection I have to make so that I can open the liftgate to dismantle the rear bar and lights for the body lift? Hence my question - can I open the tailgate without 12V apply to the systems? Can I jab 12V in to fire the tailgate lock? If yes, where do i inject it? Will the cover dismantle from the interior of the tailgate so it can be mechanically operated?
See the issue? I don't know enough about the body electro-mechanically to solve this straight off the bat.

Gotcha, i would try the connecting the battery. You don't even need the key in to operate the button.
