Folks,
are there any local options to get a crate engine? I was thinking a long engine?
Not needing right now but thinking of for future.
Current engine was transplanted from a territory back in 2015 ~ 180 - 200k on it now, maybe.
I did some googling without luck locally, some in the UK though import costs and freight would be horrible.
thanks
cheers

Look for a Ford Territory engine, you will find one with less km's or equal for about half the price AND as its the last of the 2.7lt it's likely to be a reliable engine.
EDIT: i see you have already gone down the territory engine path previously...

yes mate that was back in 2015, its got about 220k on it now so just think for possible swap over in the future. It is still running fine though.

As Incisor reported, the last new engine was sold last month. Doubt you'll be lucky enough to find a new cratey.

Your only half way thru its lifespan, i wouldn't worry about till you actually need one by which time you may have moved on.

I have seen a few on fleabay but with fairly high kms on them $3.5k - $5.5k.
Any leads or clues as to what type to look for and from where?

You can pick up an entire SZ Terry for not much more than that, driveable and intact. Depending on how much you are prepared to do in your quest, you could look for a lowish K wreck.

Example. This one prolly has higher Ks than you want, but...

Downside is you then have the rest of the Terry to deal with. If you have space and tools you might turn a $

Heaps of places will collect cars for free to scrap them once you’ve got the engine out, so unless you live somewhere remote, that’s not much of a bother.
