They are great and the benefit is they are portable and can be taken from car to car or even indoors or outside as the case may be. They are coming down in price to. We paid about $500 for ours a couple of years ago and saw them for $400 last week. $250 is outstanding value. It sounds like they are the same units, ours has DSE stamped on it but I believe it is actually a TEAC (the same Teac unit at the time was $700). Play all dvds plus allow for x box or ps2 hook up as well. One can watch a dvd and one can play games. At $250 it is a cheap way of keeping the kids quiet.

I have been looking at in car dvd's but the indash type, i need a new stereo so though i may as well fit a dvd player. JVC have one for $299 which is not bad, just need an lcd screen to go with it. Anyone have a roof or dash mounted lcd with a din size dvd player in a disco1 ?

We have a Teak one with the dual screens. If you travel with little ones they are great. Also means when camping you can put a movie on.

It reminds me of the time when car CD players first came out. A CD player in a car attracted about $1000 extra cost - when, in fact, they were cheaper to make than cassette players which were standard.
