Windscreen Washer Not Working

Hello Brains Trust

So my windscreen washers aren't working on my D3.

The headlight washers work but neither the rear or the windscreen washers work. I have inspected the fuse in the glovebox and all seems ok. I can hear a clicking noise coming from the glovebox fuse box when I press the stalk button, that tells me the signal from the stalk button is working.

I have removed the feed tube/line from the bonnet washer nozzle to see if I can get water but nothing.

Before I delve deeper into this issue and look to change to the pump. Can someone confirm if it's the same pump that feeds the head light washers?

Has anyone else come across this issue. I have searched but can't seem to get the answer I'm looking for.

Are there multiple washer motors in the Disco like there are in the P38A and L322? I think there are three in those models.

I can confirm it's *not* the same pump.
The screen wash pump does front and back by changing direction (clever that). The headlight washer is a separate and different pump. Sounds like your screen wash pump is cactus.

G'day folks

Took the time today to remove the inner wheel guard to allow me to inspect the washer pump issue. First off, I can confirm as mentioned that there are two pumps on the same bottle. One for the head lights and the other pump with the two outlets is for the windscreen and the rear window.
Tested the power cable to the pump and all good, so the pump has failed. Ordered on off Ebay to see how long it s lasts.

I grabbed a couple photos of the pumps on the washer bottle as shown in the attached.

Also, when I had a quick Look at Youtube for some info, one of the videos had the guy removing the front end of the car to gain access to the washer bottle, but I found it much easier to gain access by removing the inner guard. Maybe I'm missing something where you have to remove the front end to remove the whole bottle? Anyway, if you're just looking to get access to the two pumps, they can be easily reached by removing the inner guard.

While there remove the pumps and lube the barb and gasket that goes into the bottle with silicone grease. These dry and leak as I found out.

I found it much easier to gain access by removing the inner guard.

That's how the service manual says to get to the pumps.

I just fixed mine this morning - Youtube videos and forums seem to say to remove the lights and front bar - I had no water and noise from the pump, but nothing coming out. I set the car to offroad height, set steering full lock to the right and you can get you hand in there fine, the pump can be pulled out with the connectors on it still to swap it. The cheap pump I bought off Ebay did not fit the electrical connector, after some fiddling it seemed like someone had been in there a few times trying to fix the issue and the pump is actually ok. After a disconnect and blow through - mud, insects and what looked like white grease from fitting the hose to the pump came out. All fixed now, no need to remove the front bar.

Good Evening Folks

The Ebay washer pump was faulty (lesson learned) so purchased a unit from all four x 4 spares.

Hopefully this will sort out my issue, should have went direct to them and stayed away from the Ebay rubbish.

On another note, decided to split my faulty pump to see what the issue was. The shaft had seized due to some corrosion, was cleaned and rubbed. It runs sweet, however there is a small diaphragm in there that was split so the pump would run as it should once it was all glued back together.
