Hi all
I was searching the forum yesterday about replacing the drive belt tensioner on a Discovery 4 TD V6 3.0 and I came across a post with the attached photo of a homemade tool for removing the viscous fan. In a separate post the contributor also posted a sketch of the tool showing spacings of holes and hole size and now I can’t find the thread again. Can anyone point me in the right direction
Cheers

I presume it is the same for the 2.7/3.0.

This is my modified Td5 tool on the TDV6.

Thanks DiscoDB
So just to confirm, did you make the tool represented in the sketch
and use it in a 3.0 lit TDV6

I use on a 2.7TDV6. Those are the dimensions of the tool you posted a picture of, so I presume it is the same for the 3.0 but can’t confirm that.

Easy enough to mock up using cardboard to confirm it is correct first.

To modify the Td5 tool, I just drew up a template using the dimensions from the drawing, overlayed it on my Td5 tool and marked out the two holes. Then I ground it out.
