I suppose it is a sign of the times but this is the first time I have noticed a specific mention of electric or hybrid in my insurance policy documents.

Minor technicality. The policy does not say they will take your EV to a 'working' charging station. Lack of working stations seems to be a common EV owner complaint judging by media reports, at least over here.
