Its just a little speaker on the back of the instrument panel. Plugs in - easy job.

I'm with you on this.
Its a good reminder that traction control is off when you restart in low range.

The only one I don't like is the seatbelt one on startup, and you can turn that off.

Why would you disconnect it?

Because of the problems I was having with my SLS fault. It faults and chimes, but there is nothing wrong with it.

Have to pull over and stop and then ignition off and restart engine.

Very annoying when there is no where to pull over.

Because I was having trouble sorting the second hand replacement, I was going to put the old one back.

However, I have it sorted, hopefully.

Put it in locked cdl.
turn off engine.
re start engine
traction control is now off.

I thought this is how one turns it off?
dash lights stay on - TC warning and something else - I forget
The beeper even beeps to let you know.

Yes it can. I don’t know if it’s a feature on all of them but on mine if you engage low range with the key off it will disable TC, ABS and HDC when switched on. Have to go back to High, switch off and on again to switch them back on.

Don’t even think it needs CDL locked as my switch is faulty so it’s disconnected for the moment, but I would have to check.

I drove around for a few weeks without a rear propshaft - just high range and cdl engaged.

The tc was disabled the whole time. LH front wheel would spin with the lightest throttle.

Maybe it's either Low range or CDL to disable?

Drove mine for weeks with no front shaft, CDL engaged. No lights. Didn't go into low though... Something else to test.

Drove mine for weeks with no front shaft, CDL engaged. No lights. ...As long as your CDL switch doesnt work the ECU would not know if it's locked or not hence no reaction to it... or if you replaced the SLABS ECU with one out of a facelift cos those were uprated to not disable the TC when CDL is locked as to work together

I drove mine to Tuncurry and back, around 2000 km round trip, without a rear tailshaft
and last year half way across the Simpson desert with out a rear tailshaft.

Whether or not TC was working I have no idea, but there were no unusual chimes or dash lights on.

The week spent crossing the desert the CDL was locked the whole time.

Now we have had this conversation I am going to take note. Will be on the Simpson Desert again in about 17 days.

I will report back on my findings.

I can't turn it off per se, however I can make it inactive.

I can't turn it off per se, however I can make it inactive. If your's is facelift you can't do anything to the TC's automatic behaviour unless you replaced the SLABS ECU with earlyer modell only then the CDL disables it if it's in locked position while the ignition is turned on that's all.

Yes I can. I just lock all three diffs. TC no longer works as there is no difference in any wheel speed.[smilebigeye]
