Open or E diff

Hi, how do I know if I have an Open Diff or a E diff, I couldn’t see a starter motor thing on top of the diff as per WSM Diagram, I do have a gap tool if that helps.

Turn on the ignition. Go into the 4x4 info screen in the centre consol display. You will see a green circle where your centre diff is. If there is a second green circle at the rear diff, then you have an e-diff.

Thank you, I have an open diff, changed the oil and needed to know because each diff has a different quantity of oil.

There are some reports of this technique not being valid to confirm presence of open diffs as some have reported having the lock on the rear diff despite not having an ediff.

In my opinion, the easiest way to confirm is to visually inspect and feel above the diff for the locking unit. There are plenty of pictures online of what it looks like.
