G'day

I had the gearbox on my D3 (petrol) fitted with the steel pan conversion to allow for servicing, I've now covered 100,000km's since the conversion was fitted and I'm looking to have it serviced.
Can someone please advise on what is required for the service, as my local none-land rover mechanic wasn't keen to carry out this service. He is normally really good but mentioned that it would be better going to a specialist to have this carried out.

Just fluid and a filter, mechatronic sleeve if it hasn't been replaced previously.
Gasket should still be serviceable but worth replacing.

Same gearbox is in Fords and BMWs there are heaps of ZF26 videos on YouTube of general mechanics and DIY doing the service.

Yep, pretty straight forward. There should be a socket head hex drain plug, if not, undo the sump bolts very slightly, then lower the back ones a bit more, and slowly release the side ones a bit at a time, fluid will then weir out, let it drain before removing the pan.

At 100,000km, new valve body seals, mechatronic seal and possibly solenoids, a Gen 1 zip kit would also be worthwhile. New filter and neoprene gasket completes the service.

You may want to consider replacing the four tube seals and bridge seal whilst in there - if they've not been done yet then they've probably hardened.
Also could be a good opportunity to fit a Sonax Zip Kit and sandwich plate as preventative.

Otherwise just loosen the filler plug
Remove the drain plug plug
Catch the oil
Refit drain plug and torque to spec
Remove fill plug
Fill until leaks out
Start vehicle and cycle through gears
Fill while running
Wait for vehicle to reach 30 - 50*C transmission fluid temp
Fill again
Refit fill plug and torque to spec
You are done
