A top day out.
Ive got some great pics and a video to upload.
Gordon had "backup" in the form of a real tough Disco1 driven by a bloke with a broken hand, what an effort and some real speccy driving. There was also a mean County with a twincab conversion that went very well and a very neat early model Rangie.
I was particularly impressed with the Disco1 and County twincab, the pair of them ate obsticals the jeeps and tojos struggled on.
Great to see Nigel(DirtyDawg) and Stevan and Dianne(DownunderSteve) making the effort.Big drive for Deb,Lindsay and I,520ks round trip, but well worth it.A beautiful drive up thru the avon valley(York Northam Toodyay).
Hope you did well Gordon, and did the Disco1 win????I spoke briefly with the guy driving the Disco1,he mentioned he would like to come out with us oneday, perhaps you could get them on here!!!!

Nice shots NIgel, hope you get the video up soon!

Andrew - we won Class A (well, we were the only class A car to finish the event!!) - but we beat all the class B cars too (twin lockers + 33" tyres), so we were pretty happy!

Gary (in the Disco 1) came 3rd in Class C, the 110 dual cab came second.

Cheers,

Gordon

Hi Gordon
Well done to you and the other Landy guys, coming second and third to that suzi monster. It was a BIG step up from their vehicles. You guys that get 4WD Monthly would have seen it a few months back,a full comp buggy with the only Suzi bits being part of the cab, awsome to watch,it would climb up an office block.
I cant get my pics uploaded, seems the hard drive is full, cant store our picture album to CD either as there is no space to shuffle things around:mad:    .Looks like I have to get one of those USB drives to make some space.Lindsay is going to try and save his pics to CD,different program, may work???Already cleaned out outlook express a few weeks back, that was robbing too much space.
Until I get the computer sorted my pics are locked away in the camera.

Outlaw, the 110 county dual cab ute is a V8 with modded suspension, detroit rear with maxis and an arb front, nice truck, made most stuff look easy. He had just put some new Interco tyre on it after ditching his simex JT2's as they were not gripping rock enough..go figure:confused: I had a good chat with the Landy contestants but just wsn't interested in the other vehicle (tis a Landy thing) plus I didn't have the right make up and heels to talk "Jeep", best of luck to them but quite a few Wrangler drivers were the women with men navigating in matching shirts and helmets. the technique of the day was "momentum" "Put the lockers in Honey and give it to it", " There in Honey but there not working".
Good side show when not watching other contestants typical double income no kids who think his and hers mountain bike riding is sooo last season:D:D:D
The Rangie , a early model heavily modified, wished he had gone the extra mle and put in power steering, diff locked, tranny locked and manual steer ..ouch:)
Glen, the Disco driver I had met before, ex Navy lad, good sort had replaced damaged panels with checker plating..
And our dear Gordon with his mostly stock D3 made it all too easy looking, Is "A" class but works at "D" class level;)
I' out of Hospital now and having he week off so I will get to work on compresing the video...

cheers Jeff [110dualcab] Hi Jeff,
We got one going on the 24th at harvey if your keen... being down at margret river you should know some good inland tracks.. If you have a property it would be a good weekender, 4wd during the day ,campfire, beer ,tents and bull****e at nite before more 4wd next day;) just a suggestion even if you know a cocky who would lket a group of landy enthusiasts pitch tent.

How did your knew tyres perform? and what did you do with the simex as I'm on the scrounge for a set of off road only tyres.
The shoulder is good considering they went in, in three places , removed a gangalion the size of a golf ball and filled away some bone. should be back to work tuesday and went for a drive today..miricles of modern medicine.

Its was nice too meet you anyways Belly..
regards
nigel

dirty dawg,
bugger all tracks round here, used to be some good beach driving
but all closed now, tippical of whats happening every where.
Know some farmers, but none with any good terrain.
Not sure of dates but i think i'll be in harvey that weekend anyway.
One of the nite owl guys having a birthday run, i'll check dates.
Yes old simex's are 4sale there JT2's 34x10.5x16 got about 40% left.
With or without offset disco rims. the centres were moved in 30mm.
Did still rub a bit on full lock though. P.M. if your keen or might see you
on the 23/24 sep. & the new tyres are great, will be good to see how
they go in mud.

cheers Jeff
