I am wanting to put LEDs into my Jags hi beams and they will go in just fine BUT I am not clear on what way the bulbs go in the vertical position. There is a one way fitting that fits in to the H4 clip at the back of the light fitting BUT the actual globe can turn in the one way fitting so it can go in one of two ways, the right way, the wrong way or it does not matter.
So given the following pics, in which the top of the reflector is at the top, which is the correct vertical orientation of the LED globe or does it not matter - instructions are not clear.
1.
191182
OR
2.
191183
Thanks

Haven't fitted or removed my H4s for a while(years) ... but as I recall the shielding(what I think U call reflector) should be at the bottom of the LED chip.
So, are you saying that the bulb moves separately from the H4 base?
The H4 base with the 3 prongs only fits one way when seated correctly.
One of the prongs is wider than the other two, and the spacing is such that they only fit in one orientation.

Yes the base locks in as it should but the globe can turn, so I need to know which way the actual globe goes - 1 or 2 (up or down) as per the pics or doesn't matter.
Unfortunately the actual globe is not locked to the base and in fact can be removed with the base still clipped in.

I also just remembered.
You said high beam H4.
H4s are supposedly two beams ... low and high.
The low beam is what uses the shielding. .. at least it does on my D1 and D2.
And the high beam circuit uses the rear, unshielded led chip.
The shielding for the low beam must direct the light from the led to a certain part of the reflector to maintain good beam coverage through the lens.
If your Jag is in fact single beam globe ... then I dunno really.
As far as I can tell, the high beam will be unshielded.
