So I lend my defender to my house mate (He's driven it once or twice before) when he had a spot of bother the other day.

I get into my car yesterday and find that 1st gear is giving me major issues- and today all gears were being somewhat troublesome and I noticed that the clutch almost felt dead.

I asked my house mate and it comes out that while trying to get into 4th (which he struggles to find), he shifted it into reverse at about 50kph. he quickly shifted out, the car seemed to run fine so he thought nothing of it.

I'm obviously not stoked on this, but want to get an understanding of what this might have damaged, to decide if this is even remotely salvageable.

Currently:
- I cannot shift into any gear from neutral when the engine is on
- When starting the car in 1st (Clutch depressed), i can get going and row the gears up, but without rev matching, can't make a downshift happen cleanly.
- Super light clutch feel generally, and a fair rattle when i'm on the friction point.

Keen to see what you think of this mess!

Probably torn the centre out of the clutch plate. It's the weakest point. Hopefully that's it, but the R380 won't have liked it either. Good luck.
