Not looking for crys of "only buy genuine" as this has generally never been an issue for me, its more nuanced than that, but sure enough there will be times when that knock off "oem" is no good, and this is one of them, as when its over $200-300 for genuine plastic vs $20 i was going to try...

Anyway, lasted about 5 months and started leaking, tightening seems to have stopped it (fingers crossed) but when doing so and inspecting i noticed that the leaking diesel had broken down the wire insulation such that it was just falling off,

So decided cant really trust the rest of it, and dont really want it failing worse and pumping fuel out so ordered a genuine (also on ebay for $225)

I fitted a Ryco filter to mine and no issues in the 5 months since, Z1116. Around $100 but currently $83 at supercheap.

looks like it come with a plug, are you suggesting you just run it without the sensor ?

My sensor is long gone (removed by the workshop)... No more errors at least, but I do worry about the day I actually have water in the fuel...!

Unfortunately with Land Rovers the cheap pattern aftermarket knock off parts are generally poor quality and a waste of time with their limited life span. I've found the OEM offerings to generally be the sweet spot of well priced and quality.

How are you finding the Z1116 filter. I like to change my fuel filters every 20k this could be a good option.

Just note that LR sell a filter kit comprising the filter bracket, filter and sensor for about the same price as just the sensor. I had an issue a while back and bought a genuine sensor for $257 from a dealer - later I found I could have got the lot for only a couple of dollars more from the dealer.

Also note the genuine sensor has problems sealing with aftermarket filters - so stay original or one that you know works.
