td5 Injector seals

hey all, new to the forum, Im having issues with my td5, ive done the injector seals twice on it in the last 20 000ks and it looks like they have let go again, the car dosent want to start and when it does it runs rough as guts especially at 1800 to 2200 rpm. ive cleaned the red plug on the ecu, the crank sensor is in working order. im curious if there is something im meant to do to have the seals last as i doubt they should go this quickly. when i have done them in the past i have cleaned everything thoroughly taken my time and double checked my torque settings. any advise would be amazing thanks

The other important thing is to use proper, GENUINE seals and washers. I've just recently gone through the copper washer merry-go-'round because I used non genuine parts. It will also be worth having a look at the air bleed valve and possibly replacing it.

i have used the genuine washers and O rings as i didnt want to chance any issues down the line, but the air bleed valve i didn't know about ill have to look into that

If you have access to a nancom make sure your MAF, AAP, MAP sensors are working properly and your boost modulator is also functioning..... I was recently chasing some rough running on mine and have seals and and loom ready to go in. Turned out to be a combo of non functioning AAP, misreading MAF and tired modulator. After replacing all three, no more rough running. I'll still do the seals and loom at Christmas just as a service item.

If you have access to a nanocom, post a recording log here.

If you have injector Seal issues, the fuel pump will usually be fairly noisy after the car has been sitting overnight.

A few purge cycles will quieten it down but it will get worse again as more air/exhaust gases get into the system as it's running.

There are a number of things that can cause the symptoms you mentioned, a failing fuel pump almost certainly will... But this needs verifying.

I sadly dont have access to a nanocom, i plan to buy soon as i know they are very useful. My fuel pump has always been noisy, i do have a parts car with a good pump so i can easily swap it over. Im going to test the air bleed valve first as its easy to do so and go from there. Thank you all for the information i really appreciate it!

As far as I'm aware you can't test the air bleed valve. Take it out and have a look at the big end of the plastic insert. If it's black it's clogged. You can run without it but you may experience a bit of hard starting.
