I want to get a third spare key.
- Are the keys on the Puma (not the fob) chip encoded? ie. do they have an immobiliser chip in them? Can I just get a spare cut at Bunnings to unlock and start the car?
- Do I need to use the fob to disable the alarm\immobiliser or can I just use the key?
Had a mate whos key broke in the middle of the Simpson and I would like a simple spare hidden on the outside when travelling.

Our 2012 is not. Had so many ignition barrel failures now have a Perenti barrel and doors are keyed all the same, so if (when) the fob fails you can still access the vehicle

Bunnings definitely won't do it anymore - they only do the basic keys these days. Might be better going to a locksmith or a Mr Mint shop

Hi, opening with just the key will put it into alarm mode. Won't start and horn beeping.
Cheers

Yep, what austastar said. I used to throw the key in my wetsuit while surfing and when I opened the door it would trigger the alarm until I shut it up with the fob that I would leave on the steering column tray. The key will get you in, but thats it. Could keep a key on the outside and a fob on the inside I suppose.
I have since had the alarm and immobiliser bypassed while I sorted out a few electrical issues, so it doesn't do it anymore. Will be reinstating all the security stuff at next service.
I'm in Bris and have a Nanocom if you need another fob coded.
Cheers

Ours must have been disabled by the previous owner as we have not had this problem.

Had mine done a few years ago after being locked out spontaneously.
I consider theft a low risk vs another lockout .
Cheers
