View Full Version : 2011 d4 3.0sdv6 3.6tdv8 conversion

Hi there, my 3.0 sdv6 crankshaft has snapped and I'm going to put a 3.6 tdv8 engine in to my d4.

Ive bought a complete 2010 l320 range rover sport and plan on swapping the gearbox and engine loom over onto my d4 aswell as the ecu but I want to keep my 8 speed zf8hp gearbox.

The l320 6 speed gearbox loom is different to the d4 8 speed loom especially on the round connector that goes into to the gearbox. I have found a wiring diagram for the d4 to trace wires but I can't find one for a 2010 facelift l320 3.6 tdv8. I believe they both run the same canbus system since they updated it in 2010 on the l320. Could anyone supply me with a wiring diagram for a 2010 range rover sport l320 tdv8? Or does anyone know what wires do what just on the round connector that goes into the gearbox?

I know on my d4 there's only 7 wires, 4 are for canbus 1 is earth and 2 are various live wires but the 6 speed l320 has a lot more wires on that connector and I can not find a diagram. Thank you, I am well aware how difficult this conversion may be so negative comments are welcome but will be ignored.

Why do you need to swap gearbox looms?
I've already supplied the 6-speed's wiring diagram in another thread of yours.

I read on the Defender 2 UK forum that someone has put the new ingenium D350 engine and trans into a D4. Not sure of any details, but that would be a hard conversion imho. I think you're on the right track. Another option would be the 4.4l v8 from the RRS, they share more than a few parts with the Disco's.

Talk to Cambo and Old Jaguar - he has done a bunch of 6sp >> 8sp conversions for the D4, so may be able to give some guidance. Or sell some

How have you gone with your conversion so far?
Who did you use for your Ecu flashing etc?
