Was splitting sticks today to start the fire when owing to a faulty GPS unit on the axe, the axe hit my thumb instead of the stick.[bawl]

There's that old axiom about you always learn something from your mistakes. The thing I learned from this experience, is to get the Mrs to chop the sticks...

At least it didn't direct you into the North Sea while it was at it.

Could be worse, my older brother was cutting big sticks with a machete and split his thumb in half .

I just watched some of the 2023 Stihl Timbersports. Chopping one's thumb with an axeman's axe would have been somewhat more severe.

Not too bad. The axe went in at an angle so flesh wound. Lots of blood. We managed to get it cleaned before I headed for medical assistance. Back up on Monday for a check on it. They wanted to know if the axe was rusty! I said that it was fairly clean, but they gave me a tetanus shot. When they checked my records they found I last got a tetanus shot in 2003.
Was scheduled to collect the 200 tdi today as it was in getting work done, but I had to ask someone to do it for me. Driving is out for a while.

So is chopping wood, I presume.

[thumbsupbig] The wife has hidden the axe....
Well... from what I've gleaned from your posts about her, I'm not so sure she's hidden it for your protection.

People think that the reason a lot of axemen wear Dunlop Volleys is for grip, but it is because they are cheap as chips to replace if they chop into one.

2.45pm attend local surgery. Injury professionally dealt with. Received tetanus shot.
Monday 2nd December. Attend surgery for check on thumb and new dressing.
Wednesday 4th December Attend surgery for check on thumb and dressing changed. So far so good, no infection.
Scheduled visits to the surgery for further checks on Friday 6th December and Monday 9th December.
For someone who does not get out much this has been a busy and a very exciting week. Life will seem very flat when I get back to normal. I will miss that nice nurse...[bigsmile1]
