Trying to work out if my condenser fan has failed.
2003 4.4 V8 petrol. Fan doesn't seem to run under any conditions.
The fan has battery voltage across it all the time and is told by the engine ecu when to spin and at what speed.
I know from the workshop manual that the ecu takes info from several sensors and sends a signal to the fan motor on a control wire.
What I don't know is whether the signal is voltage or pwm. there is a 3.4vdc signal on this wire all the time the engine is running.
I would think the fan would run with a hot engine on a hot day (28degC) with max A/C selected, but it doesn't.
I can't work out whether the motor has failed or the ecu isn't telling it to run when it should?
Anyone know?
Thanks, Terry
