Customer of mine invited me to go fishing with him today on his 18' boat over near moreton island

have not been over there on a boat fishing for over 30 years.

the weather thought moreton was near melbourne i think, as we had the full range of weather except snow....

it pelted down so hard you couldn't see 20 feet in front of you when we first got over there, near the cape moreton end, but we persisted and caught a couple of barely legal fish and put them back in the water.

having been drenched for an hour or more we headed south as we could see down near tangalooma was on the other side of the rain.

once in the sunshine we did a few drifts from near the resort to the point to the north.

massive amounts of fish on the fish finder but none of the bigger ones were on the bite till we decided to head back to bribie as we could see a storm forming.

on my last bait for the day i got one hell of a hit and for the next 40 mins i had the pleasure of fighting what ever it was on 20lb braid and a 6-8kg 6' rod.

was an epic battle and i came very close to winning but what ever it was got sick of toying with me when i got it close enough to see the boat i think and it took flight finally breaking the line even though the drag was squealing...

great day, apart from the weather.... hope it happens again!

Sounds like you had a trying but great day out Inc, I bet you'd do it all over again as well!

That fish will live another day. Next time!

You should have popped in to Cowan for a cuppa and hot shower, Inc.

There were a few Cobia cruising around the place, at the time you were there.

Cobia, Kingies and sharks in the bay. But also lots of Jew and Threadies around at the moment but they don't normally give that length of fight on that line. Cheers
