Well, it finally happened, a crocodile sighting near Coonarr creek. My son just showed me a Facebook post from Tackle world with a video of one near the mouth of the creek. I am not sure if it is a hoax or not but I won't be doing any yabby pumping or fishing off the bank until I am sure. We have been expecting one sooner or later as they are both North and South of us.

South? Australia Zoo? I thought a sighting as far south as Rocky was rare.

Are we talking Coonarr like off the Fraser Island coast area?
Holy crap, I had no idea they were that far south in the wild! :o

Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water.
In my lifetime they have been sighted in the Brisbane River. I know that seems unlikely these days to us, but has anyone told them? They’re bloody good at swimming, after all. I know for certain that they swim from Australia to Timor.
Edit: A quick search brings up reported sightings near North Straddy as recently as 2023.

Seems highly unlikely.

In the 1950s, a local gent who resided in a small, semi-eponymous settlement situated on the Northern side of the mouth of the Pine River in SE Qld, did a trip to North Queensland. On his return, he was accompanied by a juvenile 'Salty'.
Quite a few years later, I recall my Father mentioning to my Mother that, "Old Charlie had to get rid of his pet croc, as it was getting too big."
I never thought much about it, until the early 2000s, when my mate spotted a croc in the Susan River, Hervey Bay area, whilst crabbing. It prompted me to ask my Father how Charlie actually disposed of his pet and my Father replied, " Geez. I'd forgotten all about that! You know, son. I don't really know!" [bighmmm]

Several sightings in the Mary at Hervey Bay.
RTT on the trailer is looking advantageous.

They were looking in the wrong spot - should have been looking on the beach.

Will send my father up to see what can do. Is getting on in age but still likes an adventure. He missed the Cuban missile crisis as had set off from Port Douglas on a croc hunting trip the day before it started and returned after it was all over. Never took even a radio with them. Seems strange in todays always in contact world

So much for it being shot, but then again it could be another one.
