Another oil question.

Have a Freelander 2 2.2 diesel NON dpf, no stop/start.
In the owners manual it specifies Ford WSS M2C913 C or D oil, A5/B5 oils.
Was wondering whether an A3/B4 (5W40) would be more suitable as I do mostly highway anywhere from 60 to 140k's every couple of days as no one sells the 5W40 A5/B5 oil down here in Tas.
Mileage is just short of 100000 klm.
Thoughts from those who work on LR's greatly appreciated and others as well.[smilebigeye]

I changed from the 5W30 A5/B5 to 5W40 A3/B4 in my 4.4 TDV8 L322 because I wanted better bearing protection and wasn't concerned that there may be a slight increase in fuel consumption. 5W40 is a better heat range for where I mostly drive and can withstand some viscosity degradation yet still be at least 30 grade. An analysis after 12K kms of mostly short drives showed the 100 degC kinematic viscosity index was 12 compared with 13.4 when new, so viscosity had deteriorated but not terribly so and was still well above the 5W30 A5/B5's typical viscosity.

Totally fine to use an A3/B4 for your Freelander.

Penrite 5w40 for example covers the ford spec as well
