I have a CTEK MX5.0 battery charger that I have used for years to top up my various Disco batteries from time to time.

From recent posts on here, and putting aside the question of Lithium (which I don't have), is this charger not really suitable for calcium (which I also don't have) and/or AGM battery charging, in particular using the recon program?

that'll mostly charge any lead acid tech battery, it'll partially charge a lithium in a pinch

just remember to set it to small battery for anything under about 5ah and not to use the recovery mode on AGM batteries that arent already completely dead or any lithium battery.

its also rated for calcium according to its manual.

Thanks Dave.

And having finally just re-found the manual, it also can be used for "GEL and many AGM batteries". And the Cold Weather Program for "power
AGM batteries like Optima and Odyssey".

And as a follow up, can/are AGM batteries also covered by the "wet" category, which I always understood to be limited to the traditional lead acid versions?

AGM batteries are technically a wet battery they have most of the benefits of a traditional wet battery and some of the benefits of a gel battery. They also mix in some unique weak points however mostly if you use the battery correctly they're negligible.

I concur as I have a "Century" 9 stage battery charger and maintainer and it has 3 modes, SMF/Calcium and AGM/Flooded and Gel.
