Im HERE, CAN YOU HEAR ME???????????????????????????????? Got the D3 back today with the repaired rear end, looks great, makes me want to cry at the thought of putting it on the market. Had a try yesterday, but couldnt do it, not yet anyway. Last day of my first real month back in business and looking positive, may even make a few $$$ or more :).
Still tossing up between a D2 and a Fender, will start to take some for a test drive, so great bargains atm on a cuppla D2 V8's O3 models less than 50000 on the speedo, $29990 drive away. Whatever I get, will ideally get them down on price then get them to add some goodies ie tyres, racks, snorkel and whatever else, oh tinting of course. So sad about the D3, excited about the new beast. Tug of war atm, Bolts on one side pushing the D2, Outlaw on the other trying to add another fender brother :D , if I could wait, Id seriously consider the new fender. Ahh we will see. Am seriously hanging out to get off road, looking forward to Fraser, need to get away for a cuppla days, will be good.
Hmmm what else, lost a cuppla kilos, then whacked them straight on again, see me not quiet at all:p

Go the D2 Stevo.............you know you want to..............huge capabilities with a bit of luxury to boot......not as much as the D3 mind you but a hell of a lot more than a fender. Having said all that I will own a 90 one day as I love them for their no nonsense approach and honest good looks.....plus of course they are awsome off road.
But I see you as more of a D2 man myself, if I may venture as far;)

Lyntons are good like that...............although you would have to give it a good clean after. One other thing to remember as you mentioned is leave some coins in the purse for modifications as they are inevitable:D I suppose the cheaper the vehicle the more mods you can do......although they never stop really. The cost of my mods have now supassed what I paid for the stock vehcile 3 years ago:eek:
Happy for you to test drive the mack truck so you can see what a real 4x4 should handle and feel like;)

One other thing to remember as you mentioned is leave some coins in the purse for modifications as they are inevitable Ahh not so quiet now, hey, and yeah Mick, I figure if I once I choose the new machine, I may as well see what I can get done to it and get it financed as opposed to forking out cash, that way as I am claiming my car for business use ( which it is) I get the best of both worlds.
Hmm I think the swappsie idea is a good one, more than happy for someone to have a go in the D3, before I sell it, though nothing hard core, I only just got the f&^%$#g fixed, as would be good to see how other beasts go. Or at least happy to swap the new one, which will be when I can bring myself to put the D3 up for sale :( .
Can see it now, new beasty, muddies, rock sliders, lift, snorkle, rear locker, if a TD5- chipped, roof rack for camping, winch bar, yeah baby  , ideally in black :D

My Rangie is ready to go. Runs, drives and not broken. Maybe I'm being a bit too soft on it. Hopefully getting a winch for it (not in time for the G4 unfortunatley:mad: ), if some bastard doesn't up the bid on ebay I should win it this weekend.
The pre-trip check should be intersting now we have had some rain in the last couple of days.

All you guys are a bunch of PUSSIES.
Driving around in your cars with ABS, TC, ACE, Climate control, Terrain response, Hill descent, ABC, 123, 13 speaker whatevers, Satnav,Navsat whatever you call it.
I'll put the challenge out to swap cars on road and off road. But I'll tell you now, drive mine on road first to give you a whole new perspective of vehicle wrangling. Then once you have reached your off road destination ( if your lucky) relax and see how you go without your fancy bits. By the way wear long pants if you want to put hot drinks in the cup holder!!!!!!( think about it )
And for some it has 3 pedals and a lever/handle thingy that makes the windows go up & down how cooooool.
Tell you what, I will organise a trip to that place at Old Coach road. How about we find a little play area and line all the cars up and have a go at driving all of them around a set course, just to see how they are all set up to suit their owners. In the club in Sydney I was in, we did a similar thing, it can actually be a good learning experiance..
Who's keen
PS Hey NOZ did you sell the D1

I'm with DRanged here, no ****** **** fitted, simple is best. I wouldn't buy a Rangie with ABS brake again (htis failutre caused me to roll mty Rangie, no power, hardly any brakes and 2/12 tom of Rangie flying down the hill isn't a pleasn't experience).
That's why I like my 87 Rangie. I could live without electric windows but got them anyway nor mirrors. But wanted armrests on my seats (something Disco's don't have bar the ES spec ones), EFI, half-decent refinement as well for bugger all price. Plus I OWN MY CAR, no banks after me:2up: :2up:
While the D2 is a bloody good package, Rangies have a diffrent feel and refinment, even the old dungas do to Discos, hard to explian I guess.
I don't care what you drive in the end, as long as you use it and it's not a shopping trolley.

hey mick, i think we were talking about this a couple of weeks ago
i was watching the 4x4 show briz 31, oh that right you guys don't get briz 31 down there, i think it was the nissian trials in sydney, they now have a new event that stock cars can enter and they had some good ideas
city view could be a good venue as there would not be track buiding required or steve's property at boonah
just looked on the net and i think it was 4wd TV that covered the nissian thingy
all events had a window of time to complete i.e. cannot do the , with max point awarded for completing the course in the correct time, this makes to equal for most of the cars i.e. the twin diff locked cars on 35" tyres don't scream throught the couse flat out
hear is a couple of ideas
- articulation/wheel placement course every time you have to stop and or reverse points are deducted
- pvc conduit with golf balls placed on a course so the driver has to position the car so the himself and or the passenger can lean out the window to put the golf ball on top of the pipe
- a small stump say 4" off the ground and you have to place each of you front wheels on top 'one at a time', only allowed to come to a complete stop once for each tyre points are awarded for on how central the wheel is placed on stump
- a plastic plate on the bonnet with an egg on it and you have to drive a course keeping the egg on the plate
- articulation ramp
i'm sure there is plenty other ideas

Theres a couple of nice 03/04 D2's around at the moment, so keen to see how they go etc. Once I have the new beast sorted, its going to be offroad when I can get the chance, good to have some comps happening too, good idea Mick. The only thing that worries me is Kathryn driving your D3. Once she has, I wont be able to get her out of it. Hers is a TD5 auto 7 seat with rear air suspension, ACE and all that stuff, so you will be able to feel the differance, even though its only on sand. If yours was a diesel we'd be chewin the fat over a deal possibly.
