Replacement key fob for L320 RRS

Hi all,
after putting my 1 working fob through a full cycle in the washing machine (it had been a long day) it only locks and doesn't unlock the car. I managed to manually open the FL door, disconnect the battery while the alarm was going off, reconnect it and then start the car.

So I ordered a couple of replacement fobs from eBay, supposedly 433Mhz, programmed them with my IID tool and the proximity sensor seems to work in that I can start the car using the new key but none of the 3 buttons to lock/unlock/tailgate seem to work. My local tested using his programming tool and said he can't see anything coming out of the key when the buttons are pushed. This makes me think I've either got a dud new fob with maybe a battery issue or a fob that's not working on the same frequency as previously. Up until I washed my original fob it did everything perfectly.

Can anyone please confirm 433Mhz is correct for a 2008 RRS L320 in Australia. And also has anyone purchased a replacement fob from someone that you programmed up successfully?
My next step is a genuine key coming from the UK for $600+ but I'm hoping I've missed a step on the way.

I recently had my Fob stolen so had the system remove that fob from the car. To stop the alarm why didnt you just hit the unlock button on the dash above the radio?

I purchased one of those fobs from ebay and when I tried to have it coded to the car it would not work - so be wary. I had the local mobile car locksmith the reprogram it so I just bought a new fob off him.

Total cost was $150 to come and reprogram the old fob - wasted $$$.

The new fob was $100 (with a rechargaeble battery) and $150 to program but he waved the original $150 so all up new fob, programmed to the car was $250.

Pretty good value I thought.

So use your mobile car locksmith.

I didn't even think of pushing the button on the dash. I thought that might unlock the doors but not disable the alarm. I'll keep that in mind for the future.

I'll get in touch with a locksmith tomorrow morning, not that many here in Darwin but I'll try a couple. That should be a better option than the >$500 for the key and then the programming from the dealer (as much as he's good at this work).
