View Full Version : Need to crank, but not start repaired engine to raise oil pressure

As above, I've re-assembled my engine (4BD1 +T) after a hole developed in No4 piston. It's now got new pistons, big end bearings, lapped valves and a few other odd and sods that go with the job. So, now I need to crank it until the oil pressure rises, but without starting it, so what procedure do I use? Thanks
Don.

If the fuel lines are still full of air then won't it take a while for pressure to build enough to open the injectors? I don't know the engine but on my tractors the pipes at the injectors need to be loosened to bleed the lines.

pull the stop lever to the stop position and tie wire it there.

if its a first time crank for pressure and you dont have an adaptor to let you pump oil through the oil filter drain port or oil pressure switch port pull the glow plugs or leave the injectors out and crank it on the starter.

Thanks Both. I'll take the injectors out and crank it. (Thanks button not working for either reply)
