Is it just me or does the jeep commander look like a cross between a D3 a Defender and a Volvo 850 station wagon

I'd call it a Bummer

Prepare to be horrified. We rarely completely trash vehicles. But there is always an exception to that rule. The Jeep Commander has to be one of the most unappealing vehicles, as far as appearance, we've seen in this site's ten months of existence. In recent times, only the Pontiac Aztec has been uglier

Interior is a dogs breakfast. They've tacked on 2 extra rear seats with no leg recess - so you end up with your knees round your ears (unlike D3). Also front clearance is cr_P. Great 3.0D though - LR please note...

First time I saw one was today. It's like a car made out of 3 Duplo blocks stacked ontop of eachother.

It makes the Ssangyong look like a Ferrari

in trying to perpetuate the classic Jeep grille, they have killed it.:(

Agreed

Jeep has had the knack of keeping some lineage to the original...as has Porsche (with a few exceptions)...this is a bastardisation...a losing of plot)

To some extent LR has done so with the Defender from the Series...lets hope the stylists can be successful with the next.

It could be worse - could look like a Ssangyong Korando!

Yeah, i would have to say they fell out of the ugly tree and hit most of the branches on the way down. I saw one at the mudgee field days and had a look over it, would have to say it made me feel sick looking at it. Its almost as though jeep gave 5 kindy kids crayons told them to trace around some blocks and then used that as the shape. The hummer, although rather large and unsigthly managed to use that shape with some level of class, jeep failed miserably. Matt

I had big hopes for this vehicle, but it is a little disappointing. I dont think the looks are that terrible, but it certainly is not as beautiful as the D3. But as a defender driver, I am more “beast” than Beauty lover. It still does have a rugged quality about it, but not in the way they intended it (read hummer into that).

The ground clearance is an issue though, and although it may be "trail rated", it aint an Austrlian trail that is for sure. Best thing is the engine…

Also being a Jeep owner, I don't mind the Commander - but only when they do this sort of thing to them:

That looks like a cross between a D3 and a Defender... untill it turns side on! :spudnikhurler:

I think they might have done better if they restrained themselves from putting the hideous oversized mechano wheel-arch flares on with the pseudo-tough exposed bolt heads.

As ugly as a hatful or ar$eholes.

Won't stop them selling heaps though. They have a much better marketing department than Land Rover. (Who apparently don't have one at all, or so you'd think). And they are cheaper.

one could be forgiven for thinking LR have an antimarketing department judging by some of the horror stories that have surfaced lately. it surely has to hurt to some degree.
