Friends,
My recently purchased 2010MY D4 with a 2.7 litre TDV6 is now due for an engine oil change. The question is, does this engine need an oil extractor pump to remove the old oil (which I would need to purchase) or do I drain it from the sump plug into a catch pan?
TIA Rob S

TIA Rob SYou can do either, but they were built with an old school sump plug, you just need to remove the nah plate under the sump to get too it.
If you undo the filter housing slowly, it has a little air bleed slot and the filter housing will empty out back into the engine instead of dumping half a litre of oil in the valley.

Being a 2.7, it won't have an extractor tube. Sump plug only.
When changing the oil filter, it will come out in the cap. Do not install it into the cap. It MUST be installed into the engine side. There is a slug on the bottom of the oil filter that must be lined up as it blocks the drain tube back to sump.
If you don't like it up, it will not make oil pressure, and you will have a failed engine on your hands.
