Hi all.

We have a brand new 25.5 Defender 110 D350 X-Dynamic SE. Love it!

As we will be towing a van (AOR Matrix) I've purchased a set of Milenco Grand Aero Platinum mirrors. I'd prefer to mount them underslung on the LR mirrors so as not to block visibility, but they will contact the doors when the LR mirrors auto-fold when the doors lock. Does anyone know how to disable the auto-fold function? I've had a good look but can't find anything.

Cheers, John

From the workshop manual: "Automatic operation can be enabled and disabled using the JLR approved diagnostic equipment. When automatic operation is enabled, the door mirrors automatically fold and unfold when the vehicle is locked and unlocked using the smart key. However, when the door mirrors are folded using the door mirror switches, they do not automatically unfold when the vehicle is unlocked."

So your dealer should be able to help or maybe the GAP tool if you have one.

CCF entry
MultiCAN-703 Exterior Mirror Auto Unfold
Automatic External Mirrors Unfold Enabled

There's also one for whether folding mirrors are fitted or not.

Use at your own risk obviously.

Thanks. I have to see the dealer on Monday, so I'll ask them then. Cheers, John

Isn't that the opposite of what is required?

Perhaps similar to my MY21 L405 where I changed the steering column lock to not fitted to stop it locking.

So coincidentally I now find myself needing towing mirrors now. I've purchased the D3D brackets and will fit Milenco mirrors. The brackets attach to the non-folding part of the Defender mirror arm so no issues with locking and folding.
The brackets are expensive but highly recommended and nothing else comes close. Apparently the Defender mirrors are a pain to attach to directly.

Yes, second that. The mirror surrounds are too thick to get the mirror clamps to grip. D3D are the G.O. I did trim the milenco arms a bit (~50mm) so they sit closer to the cars mirrors and still provide vision behind the van. The D3D brackets stay on full time.
