View Full Version : Beerwah SF trip, anyone interested?

G'day,

I was taking to Mick on the weekend and I want to do a Beerwah run sometime early Oct preferably. The reason for this thread is to get a feel for interest sake before a trip page is drafted up.

Permit-wise, it's red-tape bull**** (there's a 'way' around that, will not disclose on the forum). It's going to be a long-ish day from the GC as it's a good 1 1/2 hour run to Cabooluture where the trip starts. The trip is well worth the drive. Mick can vouch for it.

Please, this will be a Black-Red rated trip (last section of hills fits the G4 Orange catagory) so it's for more modified vehicles only. Good rubber (AT's min) and at least one locker or factory TC would be a minimum requirements also mandatory recovery gear and points. 8 vehicle max as it's quite slow and some recoverty will be required.

So, who's intersted :) :D

Trav,
I will put down as a tentative if I have time off work when the date is set. I have family at Caboolture and would stay the night up there.
I will send off my renewal of the Parks pass in the next few days.
Sound like a good trip Trav. :)

I will help fly the flag for the Classic Rangies. If the trip is latter half of Oct would be a possibility. Work is holding up my mods and maintenance on Dranged but we will get there some how.

Okay, so would 23-24 October suit?

Either day is fine with me and would a Saturday suit all?

Dates are hard to suit all unfortunatley, but the date with the most attendants (within the 8 car limit) is the one I'll run with. Everyone will have to get there permit from the PDF download link (thanks Weeds).

I'll talk to Mick at the meeting on Thursday. If I get plenty of interest, I might extend the max number a bit but we had 9 vehicles last time and although no incident it could of been slow (everyone had well set-up vehicles and all experienced drivers as well).

Yes, should have my winch on by then. Got a near new M8000 Warn off e-bay for $500 yesterday, bloody bargain:D

Okay people, trip info here Beerwah Trip (http://www.aulro.com/afvb/showthread.php?p=436442#post436442)

Trav, can you check the info and make sure you are happy with it all. Plan is now to stay at a local camp site on the Saturday night so us Gold Coasters can relax when up there rather than have to drive all the way home again after the days driving!!

Will get in touch with a camp site today hopefully and will post back when I have something.

Aye, MIck

MickG
8th September 2006, 09:40 AM
Okay, Glass House Mountains Caravan park has self contained units which sleep 6 people in bunks - have to bring your own bedding, but has shower, kitchen, lounge, tv, microwave. These are $115 p.night which works out at $19.16 p/person for one night.
I can book 2 units depending on numbers so who would be statying, bringing partners, kids, passengers etc. Please post back with numbers in cars looking to stay over night as perhaps another form of accomodation may suit. Bear in mind we wont get to the camp site until late in the afternoon so tents may be a bit of a hassle for one night. If we are just singles, then swags could be the go.

Are you Bribane lot going to want to stay overnight too for a few beers and perhaps we can have a short run the next day too. If so then make sure you add the dates on your permit request.

I will need to put down a deposit to book so if you are coming make sure you are coming!!

Aye, Mick

This is primarily a day trip but for the GC blokes it would be wise to overnight it, even if you head off the next morning. I'll still be running this as a day trip but feel free to do what you like on the Sunday.

I will be doing a reccee early October ('bout 2 weeks prior) and might do some more exploring of Beerwah

Re- Permit. These will be checked at the BP Cabooluture meet-up as well as a quick vehicle check (ie-recovery points, etc..) so be prepared :)

Okay, I need numbers confirmed for this trip as it is set down for an 8 car max. I also need numbers for people staying overnight at the Glasshouse Mountains camp site so I can book something. I have assumed each persons sleeping arrangements, so please check below and let me know if I have you down incorrectly both for attending and for camping.

5. MickG - O/N
6. Weeds - O/N

Another thing to consider, is those not wishing to bring their cars or cannot due to numbers, there should be plenty of seats if you want to come along and join in the action. If you are keen to be a passenger, let me know and between Trav and myself we will see if we can get you a front row seat!!

Aye, Mick

P.S. Trav, let me know via PM if you are happy with the above.

Since Noz is a club member, I'll add him to the list. Please note there are some 'tough' sections to get through some will need to be done (ie- no easy options) so recovery is likely for those who have issues

Also note that I am running this trip on the 29th October for the Brissie LROC and if those who can't make the GCLRO trip they're may be some spots so don't worry.

Reccee will be in 3-4 weeks and I'll have more details of the trip then :)

Guess I have broken my own rules :oops2: - 11 vehicles ATM are participating  I have run this trip with 15 vehicles before and it was a smooth and non-incident day out. I have yet to do the reccee and will post up info soon.

If you are not able to make it when the date arrives, let me know on the Friday before the trip via either SMS or phone call. There will be no emg list as it's a full house.

Keep in mind that I'm running another trip the weekend after (SUNDAY 29/10) with the Brisbane LROC but this will be a little 'tamer' than ours as the LR's are more stock than our club current array of modified LR's  .

Okay, after the recce this trip has now been classed RED - G4 ORANGE, meaning those attending must have the following equipment as a minimum. The terrain has changed somewhat since Trav and I were last on these tracks and as such, some sections are very tricky and require diff locks to traverse. There are some sections that may result in slight panel damage so please keep this in mind before coming along.
If anyone has any concerns or questions about the terrain or vehcle set up, please contact me as soon as possible - 0422 132 225. You can see pics from our recce here (http://www.aulro.com/app/showgallery.php?cat=520)

For information, according to the weather forecast, Saturday will reach around 30 degrees C (will feel a bit hotter I expect in certain parts of the forest) and there is the chance of an afternoon storm and showers.

I suggest you take the above into account when packing the car - plenty of water (especially for the kids) and maybe some rain gear.

Sunday should be nice and cool with a top of 22 degrees C and a few showers - nothing major to note for Sunday and perhaps a car wash on the way home:D

See you tomorrow and looking forward to it:D
