Ive made the decision to do some servicing on my D4 ( 2016 SD) after 9 years trouble free motoring.
Interested in learning the "dark art" of OBD and need a tool/scanner to do it.
Searched this Forum but nothing definite and have web searched so happy to spend around $2 to 400.
Foxwell NT 650 looks good but confused by other brands which offer similar capabilities.
Any experience out there (a silly question , im sure there is) to share, thanks in advance
Steve

The gold standard for a Land Rover is the IID Tool. Purpose built for Land Rover and has all the necessary routines you'd need to fully manage the car including suspension, engine and programming new features and functionality. Some cheaper ones can only scan the engine and others while they can see the codes from the other ECUs, don't have the routines to help you work on the vehicle.

If you want a tool you can rely on to not just service it but get you out of bother if you're somewhere remote, get the IID

What DiscoJeffster said. Also, spend some quality time with the workshop manual. It's amazing how much detail is in there and it will give you a good understanding of the car. Reading through the What happened to your D3/D4 today? (https://www.aulro.com/afvb/l319-discovery-3-and-4-a/274201-what-happened-your-d3-d4-today-627.html) thread will give you some great ideas for mods and fixes.

I'm not sure you can buy a GAP IID tool in Australia as GAP are based in Canada. British Off Road just north of Brisbane mentions them on their website but I'm not sure if they carry stock. Most people buy them online...Land Rover parts and servicing specialists - British Off Road - TFIIDBT Land Rover Diagnostics Tool (https://www.britishoffroad.com/products/gap-diagnostics-iid-tool-bt.aspx)

Shop around UK sites and you might get a deal based on the exchange rate on the day and freight.
I ended up buying from GAP Canada for my G3 model then took advantage of their lower cost upgrade to the G4 for my Defender. Great responsive service from GAP.
