landrover scanners

Given that there are new tools on the market. anyone use any of the newer scanners on their discovery.
at this stage i cant justify 600 for the landrover scanner
I was recommended to use this one Vident i400AU which somewhat insultingly comes with Toyota pre loaded and then you buy the landrover sw on top
it still comes in cheaper then the landrover dongle.. someone else mentioned hawkeye which again is quite pricey
so what do people use ?

Someone is selling their Nanocom, they said it was used on a L320, I thought Nanocom was a D2 thing.

With the right cable and software it also does L319 D3/4, L320 and possibly others.
There is a South African company that has just released a TD5 specific OBD tool for around $250.

The TD5Spy thing is interesting. It doesn’t have the capabilities of a Nanocom, but for onboard diagnostics similar to the Gap tool, i.e. Bluetooth etc could be very helpful. I wonder if they could develop it to allow for uploading tunes and programming keys, and the other things you need a Nanocom for. Trouble is that the software is proprietary. The lack of true OBDII compatibility is a bugbear of the D2 and P38. And it’s difficult to see anyone putting in the effort for a 25 year old car, sadly.

I was sort of hoping to find a 10 yo. nanocom or similar for a 10 yo. price.
there are some nancoms in spain that seem cheap..
The South African tool seems nice but seems to only cover the ECU .. SRS and BCU aren't mentioned.
ill keep searching and I find an abundant source ill post :)

Usually 10 year old nanocoms still sell for 60- 75% of new price.

Maybe a bit less, but often you will need to buy a new unlock.

Nanocom arent locked, you just need a different cable and software package if changing to a different vehicle series , ie D2 to D3/4 which is an expensive option.

You will need the correct unlock for the model you want to use it in and yes, also the correct cable.
