Coolant Hose Fittings Size

Hi All!

I recently replaced my coolant hoses (2.4 Puma) with the ones from Roose Motorsport. All was well until I started smelling some coolant at the driver's side (LHD) and found that the plastic T fitting broke causing the coolant to slowly, drop by drop, leak. After that was replaced with another one (my buddy had a spare) all was well again until... I now smell coolant at the driver's side again.

Not wanting to waste coolant and to avoid these potential leak points, I started searching for alloy or stainless steel fittings. Luckily, I found some but now my conundrum is that I don't know the size of the fittings. Would anyone happen to know? (3/4" - 3/4" - 3/4" ?) Is the plan to replace plastic with alloy or stainless steel a good one or am I better off sticking with plastic? The fittings themselves in plastic form cannot be ordered, as far as I know, from the usual sources (LR Parts, LR Direct, etc) if you get from them, you have to buy the whole hose assembly they're attached to. If plastic is the way to go, where can I source them?

I would look at general automotive parts places, doing a search for 3/4 brass t piece brings up numerous options.
Using a 3/4 fitting as you suggest will allow you to use the original expansion clamps which actually work better than worm drive clamps.
BUT if you have changed out to silicone hoses you must use good quality worm drive clamps

Its not particularly a common issue that the plastic ones fail

I was actually just using the 3/4" measurement as an example, I believe it's a little bit more than that. I passed by a friend's shop, and he had an angle piece of about the same diameter. The ID of the hose (AlliSport) is 1.5", the fitting at the head, which is slightly thicker most probably to grab on, was about 2" and the segment under that was about 1-3/4".

Just wanted to verify before I go poking around to see what can be had or if I can get a machine shop to just fabricate a couple for me.

However reputable companies making Silicone coolant hoses use an internal liner to overcome this issue.

The Roose Motorsoprt coolant hose kit had the option to add the stainless worm drive clamps so I bought them as well. Good thing I did then, if this is the case.

Yes hopefully it does. Like I said before its not that much of a common problem, but I have been looking a lot more in detail and yes there does seem to be some degradation of some of these plastic fittings.
