PSA - front seat bases are not the same

So, my drivers seat base has torn it's stitching and while not super urgent, I've wanted to get it repaired for a while now and have some time on my hands atm.

I read or watched a video where someone said the base was interchangeable with the passenger side - maybe it was a D3. But on my D4 2010 the passenger side has an additional cable which I presume is the pressure sensor to trigger the seatbelt light.

Was good to get both out and give them a clean anyway, and going to finally install my GME XRS under the passenger side while it's out.

Incidentally, if anyone has any recommendations for leather seat repair in Melbourne, that would be great.

Pretty sure the seatbelt light is triggered by the latch itself not earthing. Is your driver's seat heated? That wire looks like a cable to the heating element.

I wish I had heated seats for Melbourne winters!

I assumed the seat needs to know someone is sitting in it before warning it's not buckled - hence pressure sensor? But total guess on my part. The cable is on the passenger side and not on the drivers.

Agree - I think it's a pressure sensor that determines if the seatbelt warning chime needs to sound. Possibly even testing for weight, to use in calculating airbag deployment force (ie, less for a child's weight)

Yeah. You must be right. I'll have a look at the wiring diagram when I get a minute.

I swapped the bases while I was getting the drivers repaired and it physically fits perfectly. I didn't plug any of the cables in, so I got the expected airbag warning light - but curiously, I also got an EPB warning shortly after driving each time, even tho it worked fine. After swapping everything back, no more errors.

Got the stitching repaired for $165 locally (Williamstown) and they did a good job.
