I velcro mine to the plastic dress piece that covers the blower motor in the Puma. I ran the cable up through the shifter hole and under the rubber mat to that location.

Thanks :) Ishould have clarified mine is a Tdi (I'll edit the OP) so dash is different to Puma.

same applies, velcro to the fuse cover. you don't really need access to it much so where it is fixed is not critical. I like toggling the switch to force connect the 2 batteries when winching, otherwise I never touch it.

Hi,
Mine is behind the battery up against the seat floor. Not the easiest access, but I haven't needed to get to it in 10 years.
If I was to redo it, I would put it under the raised cubby box (150mm) along with other electrical add ons.

While it not always that convenient, but having the In-Cab Module where you can see it has a number of advantages.

The latest version, supplied for about the last 5+ years, not only gives you a rough indication of the state of charge of your batteries when the vehicle is not in use, but these latest versions also give good fault finding info.

If you are driving and the LED starts flashing a number of short RED flashers and then one short green. This indicates the battery voltage is somewhere below 12.75v

In a vehicle with a SMART alternator, this is most likely an indication of full charged batteries and usually happens towards the end of a long drive.

BUT if you have a standard alternator and this happens or if you have a SMART alternator, and this continually happens during short drive. In both cases it may be an indication that the alternator needs some servicing.

If the LED rapidly flashes RED/GREEN continuously the you have an Over Voltage fault with your alternator.

If the LED flashes RED rapidly, then you have an Open Circuit, and this is usually caused by a loose cable somewhere.

You can also use the Toggle Switch on the In-Cab Module to LOCK the isolator in the OFF position.

This is useful when changing batteries or when needing to separately test either battery or for when the vehicle is going in for a service.

So it pays to keep an eye on the action of the LED and to have the In-Cab Module handy.
