View Full Version : Any brickies in Brissy interested in a barter (some raised garden beds for a Rangie?)

Yes I'm serious.

I've been trying to sell my 81 Rangie for a little while and I don't know if it is because the price is too high or there's no demand or what. So I got thinking about bartering, especially since I am renovating ...

Anyway, I need some raised garden beds done in brick. Not a lot of work - probably 15-18m or so of wall at about 50cm high (haven't measured it properly yet) all up, 2 curved walls and on a little bit of a hill (but they're not retaining walls).

So ... I was thinking ... if anyone is a brickie and would accept an 81 Rangie in running order (needs the interior cleaned up though) as a payment for such work, drop me a PM ... I can supply more details of the proposed work and of the Rangie.

I would need the work done by mid-October, but you can take your time between now and then. I am not fussy about brick colour (will be rendered).

At the rate brickies charge, I think you will have to chuck in the Freelander and the Jeep as well.:D

Dion, good luck trying to get one, they're all busy and they'll charge like any buuiling trade in the current climate.

Re- Your Rangie. I wouldn't worry but FeianEel picked up a ripper 2 door Rangie with straight panels, bugger-all rust and all running condition for $550 in good nick (needed the brakes worked on though) so hope that gives you an idea of what you should aim your price at. 2 door Rangies, unless they're in near spotless condition are worth stuff all ATM :(

Trav,

Yeah it's seem that way :( Oh well. Lesson learnt the hard way. I'll just have to keep dropping the price till it's gone ...

Heheh. Actually the last few brickies I've had doing work have been pretty reasonable.

Brickie, some one say brickie:eek:
Dion if I was over there mate I would do it for you
a 15m x 500mm wall is just over 400 bricks.
over here private cash jobs are at $1.20 per brick, couldn't be much more if anything might be less over there.
Being rendered it should take no more than 3/4 of a day to do with the curves which are a bitch ( no string line guess-a-rology and lots of level required).
Good luck, any questions just PM me.
regards
Nigel
