View Full Version : Nanocom 1 and installing a tune

Ok, another for the brains collective...
I picked up an older Nano 1 (grey box, 4 push buttons) from here a few years ago very cheap, it's been a life saver many times as we all know.
As I am now progressing down the path of D2 ownership and am looking at getting an ECU tune in the new year, all going well, this will be along with a V8 torque converter (or at least a low stall stock from Discorevy with a recon auto) and hopefully an updated turbo
I've done a bit of reading about installing tunes and have come across everything from plug and play to bricked ecu.
Most of them talk about using the Evo Nano. I plan on using an older laptop with the tune file plugged into my Nano and going from there.
So my long winded question, what things do I need to be aware of, what can I mess up if I'm not careful? I really don't want to brick an ECU.
cheers

ReddSo will the original nano actually upload a new tune?
I haven't gone looking for the answer, but have always wondered and have asked on here but with no result.
As regards a bricked ECU, if your tuner knows what to do, it should be very unlikely, there is always danger with loading new firmware of course.

Thanks Shack
I'll go over to blackbox and have a bit more of a dig around, worst case I'll just find someone with a new nano and pay them to upload the tune when I get to it

Couldn't discrevy or Darren ( dazzaTD5 ) load a tune for you if the old Nano can't? I don't know, just know they're on here and over there.

Can't Discorevy do the tune?

Can't Discorevy do the tune?
I'm very sure he can, I'm about 3 hours drive away, just seeing if its possible with my nano. As I said, worsted case I'll get someone to do it for me, I just like to do things myself (and quite often to my own detriment...)
cheers

From what I read on the Nano website the early nanos can read and write tunes. This may help, maybe...
