I’m replacing the 25yr old, rebuilt twice, compressor. Bearings, bushes, mounts all past their best.
ive gone with the MaxSpeedingRods replacement, which is less than half the price of a Dunlop, & to be honest is a well made bit of kit.

The current Dunlop has at the compressor end has a taper thread union. The MSR has a more sophisticated double o ring, and that seems to be the same as the currently shipping Dunlops.

Neither kit ships with the nut & olive that connects to the 90 elbow on the valve block.

Question is, what is the thread & union, needed BSP etc & type of olive? To secure the 6mm pipe at that end. They’ll probably need replacement

Unfortunately, the car is a Balmain apartment resident, street parking & my only wheels so any maintenance needs planning & not a bus to the nearest Pirtek out west!

thanks!

Normally, I just disconnect the blue pressure outlet pipe at the compressor end

Being a metric guy myself I can try and check it out. Mine is out (and I have a spare) AND I am in the shed today so I'll see if I can figure it out for you :)

Thanks Prelude,
That would be really helpful.
A 10mm spanner fits the unions. Due to the space constraints a 72 point ring ratchet is needed to undo the valve block union I reckon & then slide it off the compressor end & its then pretty easy.
Trying to avoid the weekend scenario of dismantled bits with no replacement olive & nuts to hand if needed!

sorry for the delay :) Access to the site was down for me for a while...

I managed to find my pump in the disorganized mess that is my shed (just moved everything in end last year) and I must admit I seem to have misplaced the elbow [bighmmm] I will be going through all the boxes and cups with the P38 stuff next week and I'll keep you posted. With the elbow it is a 10mm straight pieace of thread that sticks out on my unit. I do not know the thread pitch since I do not have a measuring device for it but it is quit a fine thread. Will pick this back up next week!

Cheers,

Thanks for that. I bought a metric/bsp thread gauge this weekend so weather permitting I’ll pull it this weekend & report back.

thanks!

Yes, a gauge is on my wish list as of recently as well :)

I managed to find the elbow and it is a straight 10mm fine threaded type on one end (where the clamp for the pipe screws into) and it is tapered on the valve regulator block end. (same thread). It requires a 11mm spanner. The compressor end is the same thread as far as I can tell and is straight (as in no angles) and also straight (as in not tapered). I guess that is fairly standard stuff for pneumatics.

Whilst I did try, I could not get met calipers in the very small threads to measure the pitch.

Cheers,
