Back story is that he doesn't talk about is that it was bought from a salvage auction with prior damage.
no insurance company is going to cover that and it's an automatic get out from JLR

The source and minor damage were declared. He is a qualified and insurance company approved repairer and as such did the repairs. His insurance will cover the loss.
The point being made, is that the fire was not related to the minor damage, therefore the car was still under warranty.
JLR insisted that an independent fire investigator examinate the wreck, in their presence at an independent location, at the owner's expence (£3,000). The owner agreed but three times, postponed at short notice. An authorized LR technician immediately recognised the fire damage, as being caused by the DC/DC converter. It apparently has been an issue on all ( RR, RRS and Def) models.

Terminals at the DCDC converter were overheating, sometimes getting scorched, except for the D300/D350 L405 which presumably use different cabling to all the others.
