Hi guys, just a friendly reminder that the long weekend BBQ is coming up in less than 3 weeks. I have had a few people message me and say they are coming but need to get more definite idea, people can of course tell me the day before but a few definites in advance would be good.

Details are in the upcoming events forum but at present people would be arriving before lunch on saturday morning, say between 9-10am get everyone set up and head out for a drive. Now at the moment the destinations arent set in stone but we have a choice of quite a few, i thought we could head out to jenolan caves for the sunday and explore more of the tracks out that way, there are heaps. I will try and organise directions to Mt Walker for one of the days and the third day can be a suck it and see type thing. Sunny Corner State forrest is unexplored by AULRO thus far so thats a possibility.

There will be heaps of fire wood for a bonfire each nite, and the gas bottle will be full for the cooking. Hope to see you all there. Matt

Nah this thread will do.

You must sit there with the window open and you hand on the mouse like an Ok Coral shootout waiting for something to happen. :D

Not sure how many days for yet though. If I'm by myself, then all 3. If Leslie comes along too, then maybe 3, probably 2.

Hi Mahn i was actually thinking of doing the run up Mt Airley in the capertee valley area on the sunday, does that work for you? Its good for me cause i can drop marcos off with stacey on the way through. I have been up a few times but have never walked to the end of the point. Matt

Ok guys i have worked out where we will be going on the weekend of the BBQ.

On saturday there are some tracks around Zig Zag we can play on, there are heaps, dave went on some new ones with the tuff trip blokes from LROC so we can check them out. Saturday will be cruizy, start around 11am or so after everyone has arrived and set up.

Then a bonfire, i might not have time to get out and collect a heap of wood so i will borrow the schools chainsaw and we can get some whilst out 4wding. Plus the usual BBQ of course.

Sunday morning will be a 10am start at the latest as we are heading up Mt Airley (please note there is a $5 per vehicle charge for going up this track to help pay for track maintenance) and there is a half hour walk at the end of the track out to the point to look out over the Caperty Valley, a top view i am told and well worth the look (if it is raining Mt Airley will be cancelled and another track selected)

Again that night there will be camping, eating, drinking and bonfiring.

On Monday we can get an earlier start, would be good to head out around 9am and head over to jenolan caves to explore more of the tracks around there.

These are just my ideas there are open to change if we wish.

OI, if you have some different tracks in mind around capertee valley way i am open to sugestions as this would be new to me and everyone else, i am happy to join you and CJ if Mt Airley isnt to your taste.

Also i have a few kids from school, say 4-5 who are interested in camping for the weekend and coming out 4wding does anyone have any objections to this? Matt

Andrewpv01
22nd September 2006, 07:06 PM
It's probably good I am not going, I don't think my missus or kids would get in the Disco if they heard we were going up Mt Airley again:o:D
Last time one of the kids walked back down a couple of sections after screaming all the way up:p
I also had a heart attack or two on the way up:)

I was hoping some of the lovely members would volunteer a vacant seat, this was planned a while ago but in the end it didnt eventuate. I wanted to make sure there we no objections before i invited some of them along. Its not formalised yet so if there are objections then please say so, they will be here with parental permission knowing that they will be riding in other peoples vehicles, and what we will be doing.

I do see enough of them at school yes, but organising trips like this and going beyond the call of duty allows me to establish a far better relationship with them and subsequently makes my life at school easier.

I've been invited on a trip down to Deau National Park. I haven't been there before so I'd like to check it out.

Nothing is definite yet. I'm changing over my ISP to ADSL.
If all goes well & it's all up & running before the weekend, I'll head to Deau.
If there's a problem & I'm not able to get the time to make it to Deau, I'll come up for a day or so at Lithgow.

One way around this problem is mounting the camera to the dashboard, but then you don't get the outside shots that make the whole experience worthwhile
