Hey All,
Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with Davis Performance Landys at Annangrove as far as general servicing goes. I know they do great job with ECU upgrades and such but i was wondering whether to head here or venture south to Graeme Cooper Automotive. Keeping in mind DPL is only 15mins up the road from my place.
Cheers

I do, and they are very good. They go over the car with a fine tooth comb which is good and bad when they give you a needs to be fixed list.
I'm very happy with them though.

I agree... The fine tooth comb can cost but it is better than a breakdown. A very thorough service with no BS.

What is the usual price for this fine toothed comb service? Not that its a huge deal, but i'd be happy to pay a little more to get a far better job.

Definately worth a try but I believe that Peter is fairly fully booked with regular customers (says a lot for the quality factor) and he is reluctant to travel too far north, operates mainly (but not exclusively) south of P'matta River.

What i don't like about B Davis is he charges even when he's not working on the car, (ie) clock the work card on then wanders off for 3/4 of an hour while the car isn't touched, but still charges you for that time:mad:
He does good work, but charges like a wounded bull:o

That can not be good. Have known a few tradie's that do similar or spend hours on the phone. I have upset a couple when I have deducted time off the bill that they spent on the phone. I am not paying them to quote on other jobs, talk to the missus etc. A lot depends on the rate they are charging at up to $100 per hour, I expect that time to be full on working. At $40 an hour I dont care if they stop for a quick cuppa.

I've had all 4 of my Landys serviced by John Davis / Bruce Davis. I bought my first one from John and Bruce checked out my last one before I bought it from a private seller as well. Bruce always did a great job and I've found him to charge the same (or even less) as others. He really helped me out with a few nasties on my Defender too (the previous owner had really bodgied it badly). I haven't been back to him since moving to Canberra 4 years ago - it's too far to go for just a service, but I'm tempted to take it back there for mods.

had Bruce Davis from Davis Performance installing my winch, Llams and transmission cooler on short notice before trip, assumed I don't need to say much so gave no specific instructions silly me:
winch was installed without turning motor now I have to remove front grill to free-wheel it. llams module was just thrown under dash not attached anywhere and the red overwrite switch was not installed.
according to Graham unit should be secured in dash and overwrite switch mounted somewhere.
like where he placed the llams main switch though.
very happy with Peter Davies who today again did my after trip inspection.

Just went to DPL yesterday for my 200,000km service.
Very happy with Bruce and the team.
They go over the car with a fine tooth comb, suggest what needs to be done (urgent, less urgent etc), can tell you exactly how much each piece of work will cost. You say what you want done, that's how much it costs. No surprise when paying the bill.
I've had some huge issues with my car & Bruce has worked really hard (and been generous) in getting it going well. (DPL chip at significantly reduced price).
If you have kids, take them along because there's an indoor play area with a cafe next door. When I go back in 10,000km my missus wants me to take our three boys.

Hi All
Bruce and the team is a couple of minutes up the road. As said before he can charge like a wounded bull but to be equally fair every time D2 goes in it come out running better. They have done run of the mill services and put some other stuff in. They have got me going in short time after a couple of adventures (fuel pump in Harbour Tunnel in peak:whistling:)
I did baulk at 5hrs for the cargo barrier and got it done somewhere else.
Also stuff that we have replaced with his homemade kit is better performing and hasn't broken yet. Ive been going for over five years now.
Next week is 260K. I am hoping for the usual fine tooth comb, but not looking forward to the bill
Hey hydeslane. My daughter has been swimming at that pool for about six years now.
cheers

I wish I could say I am impressed with the quality of work done by Bruce Davis performance, but I'm not.
I've had to return and get multiple items redone again and again and have a couple of new dings in my car from it's time spent there.
When you spend a lot of money (he does charge) you expect a hassle free experience but I have wasted days going backwards and forwards to get multiple issues caused by sloppy work rectified. And then there is the wasted time on holidays having to get his work fixed by others.
Time really is money and I cannot afford to go back.

I also live close by and have had some excellent work done in the past by brother John, but Bruce is just too savage on my pocket so he's in the ' last resort ' department. I'd love to be rich enough to just toss the truck his way, as the work is generally good, but I can't afford it.

10 years ago when I had my 130 I used to take it to two young guys in Sydney trading as "Kindarun Auto or something.
Now I have a new 90 I would like to use them when the warranty runs out (or before)..........problem is I cant remember where they were and can't find them on the web..........They did good work though if anyone knows where they are at.

I believe they've grown a bit and last I heard they had the apprentices doing a lot of the work.

Why don't you mob buy a RAVE DVD, study it, and do the majority of the work yourselves? Buy a Haynes, if only to know what the servicing routines are. Save heaps, learn heaps. Comes in handy on the track. Bob

No apprentices there anymore - there hasn't been for some time. Brad and Matt have bought the business back from Ben Willis (one of their apprentices to whom it was sold).
They have also moved to:
Unit 5
62 Argyle St
South Windsor
Tel: (02) 4577-5010
(Disregard the Yellow Pages, it has the correct address but a Kingswood phone no).

Anytime you're passing through Sydney Justin just give us a call and I'm sure some accommodation and a 'gathering' could be arranged.
