Guessing nobody knows any way to work out which injector goes where without using the Rover comp? Mechanic finnaly removed my injectors but forgot to label them.:o They can plug my baby in once its put back together but they say they will need the beasy back together and in the vehicle to plug it up and that means I now will have to truck it to the dealer in Canberra before it can be started.:( At least they only asked for a case of beer for the work. He also has a mate with a spare TD5 engine I might be able to get fairly cheap so will find out on monday.
Except for this I could of had the bits ready to go in by next weekend.

The injector codes need to be programmed into the engine ECU.

Yep thats the problem. The mechanic's comment is I won't be able to start it.

you could try guestimation.
put them in and try to start it... use a ir probe on the exhausts to work out which cyls are firing then resort the ones that arent firing and go again.

Thats a lot of work as the cam has to come out to get the injectors out.

I'm not 100% certain, but as long as you know the injector codes and cylinder locations, you can re-program the ecu once its running.
Think it may just run ruff with wrong injector codes?
Someone else may correct / confirm this...

Crap, why couldnt they be like detroit ones and driven by rockers off the cam...

They are driven by rockers off the cam its just their size and how it all goes together means the cam has to come out before they do. They take up half the space in the head:eek:

I have no exp in TD5 diesels but I have pulled apart alot of Jackaroo 4JX1 Diesels which are of a common rail design, They have to be programmed into the ECU telling It which injector is in which cyl, the programming is only for fuel trim, some injectors are richer than others, the motor will run fine even if injectors are moved around but to be 100%, the fuel trim data must be programmed. The diff between a rich one and a lean one isn't that much it's just fine tuning.
Hope this helped???????

George, Unfortunately the injector codes have to be programmed in to the ECU, I wish it was as simple as the 4JX1 sounds!
The problem with the Td5 is injector code sequence is actually the firing order...
I had to travel 3 hours last year to start a mates 110, he had done the same thing. All we did was write down the location and code on each injector, and entered them in with Rovacom and away she went. No good to you if you are in the outback....Go the Tdi or Isuzu I say.

The good news is that the Land Rover mechanic who made the mistake is looking at comming out to me to program them. I still have to wait at least another week to get the head back so its another 2 weeks easy before it back on the road.
