Well, back from a day destroying landrovers down at harvey, the weather was warm , the mud was deep and the rocks as hard as usual:D:D
There was a string of dents, bends, bits being ripped off and near roll overs, Brad (Sith) took a beautifully restored Rangerover with a new TDi motor (out the crate)maxilocked both ends, laminated diffs the list is endless and drove it hard..so hard I offered to remove his kids from his rear passenger door that was at such an angle it makes more for a hatch then a door:eek: once his kids were out it was only his wife left to terrorise whilst he got out of the most horrendous deep rut...panel damage, missing rear light lenses and ripped off bumper bits, great attitude about it and it was good to meet him and his family, ziggy was the air for the day with our international guest Robert (Kookeynet) in the passenger seat, when he had extreme sitting on its ass litterally with its front wheels begging like paws..with 6 of us pushing he got out of that hole and rich (KIE4) halfway through ziggys obstacle decideds to leave via the side wall and got his disco a good metre off the ground, dat boy got air:D:DD90 made it all look easy with is modded 90..talk about droop that thing from behind looked like the letter "X" with wheels attached:D
Landy andy was the PR man for the day and used up all his batteries on his camera whilst shot guning in a Toyo Ser80 Baz who performed well considering its a Toyo..I was tailend charlie and it was fun negotiating the same obstacles after all those bastardiches tore up the mud before me:D:D great day by all my co-driver Tony (frenchie) had his camera running hot aswell, I gaffere taped mine to the dash so after I download it and edit it I will post some "Landycam" shots..
Big thanks to our tour guide RichardK who without him it just would'nt be a harvey trip.. every line of travel Richard points out I take and always get through, experiance is a wonderful thing...
Oh Steve (crump) I ripped off the welded on front diff protector off the stoutbeck bash plate goin back wards for a run up ... ouch..glad its shiny as it showed up in the mud....:D the tear was just the weld coming free so a 6 pack and I'll get it welded on again.
No doubt the boys will add to this post with some interesting pics and vids..
Great day thanks to all who attended...

Taz you picked a good time to bolt,do the easy stuff and miss the real panel crunching stuff,I hope Paul enjoyed our company.
Im sure Robert(our guest from France) was glad his Landy was locked in customs still.I was accused of pretending my head gasket was stuffed, because I knew what Richard had in store,I WISH!!!!!.
FAT BAZ,he is the man,he really did well with his lines,he did really well with road tyres, showing up a few better equipped Landys.
Matt,my Bro in the 2A wagon,he has learnt heaps from you guys in previous outings and is really getting it together,to see him blast up thru the bit where Iggy got stuck, awsome job.Tony you just have to get that footage posted.
DirtyDawg,if you are going to volly to be tail end charlie, hurry up and get your lockers:D :D :D :D
Sith, sorry to see damage mate,it is always the worst nitemare, the screaming coming out of that Rangie sounded like a Royal Show Ride.Great stuff bringing the family, unfortunately mine bailed out as my Disco was ill.
RICHARD you are the task master from hell, you pushed everybody today,BUT Im sure everybody learned heaps.
AND YES,we all want a red 90 V8,even the Tojo fans. That thing is CRAZY.
Ive got heaps of pics, the benefit of being a passenger, will post during the week.

Was a great day, I enjoyed it immensley (think I've spelt that wrong).

There were some good challenges, and to everyones' credit all attempted some, if not all.

Unfortunately there was some "collateral" damage but that can happen when hard 4WDing, fortunately nothing serious.

Great pictures Sith but you probably would be better in a gallery or trip report as the post and pictures will dissapear into the annals of time in the General Chat forum.

Andrew, will be good to see your pics up ASAP

Will anyone own up to having to wash their seats?

A great day, thanks for your company

Here are a few short vids, I made them as small as possible but still 2Mb each so not that dial-up friendly. I have about 50 mins of the whole day with some good stuff in there. If anyone wants the full vid let me know.

Hi all, The trip out was really good, It was my first time off roading like that.
Ive been in a gravel pit a few times in the UK and paid £25 for the privilege of going round and round.:( The green lanes are not very good in the south east of England either.
apart from the bumper:wasntme:  no damage to the discovery, had it up on the ramp to clean it before wifey gets in it , I'm gonna have to get another land rover to go out to play with.:D .
Thanks for all the advice, cant wait till next time

Hey Rich seen as early V8 disco's are dirt cheap at the moment and the trips are roughly once a month might be the way to go or an early 2 door range rover $1500-2000;)

Sounds like you lads have been having fun whilst I've been gone!! The pics are great - looks like it was muddy enough for all :)

We just got back last night from our trip to Docker River/ Alice / Barossa - 8000 kms all up. I'll write up a report and post pics later tomorrow.

Now I've got to get the D3 ready for the final round of the NightOwl gymkhana - it never ends .... ;)

Cheers,

Gordon

Richard,

I'll post a detailed report later, but basicially, apart from breaking a shock mount on the trailer (the Docker River Rd is pretty rough at the moment!), not a problem. I met the Audi Q7 Trans-Continental lead drivers in Yulara and swapped notes, but I suspect they're in for a lot harder a drive West than they were anticipating .

Cheers,

Gordon
