I'm surprised this DVD hasn't been put up here yet.

Fot those who haven't heard, the DVD entails building a 100 inch LR hybrid from a near scrap Rangie and a combo of Defender and Series 3 parts and panels. Plus plenty of off-road goodies such as our locally made ARB air lockers, extreme travel suspension and the list goes on and on...

Bloody great DVD, detailed and well worth the $44 that Pitstop bookshop charge (2 DVD's come with it, it's about 4 hours long). Some of the add-ons are not to my taste but it gives you plenty of inspriation to have a crack yourself.

I bought it as I kept missing it on Discovery channel and was following it weekly when it first showed on Foxtel.

Does he show a picture of cleaning parts in the dish washer?
Its during this series that his wife kicks him out so he is living in the workshop.

It was made up the road from me in the Uk (where he test it is Bricklyn Farm which is where i used to test my 90). I knew the chaps that helped him build it and the same blokes that told him not to put that surpension on (but he was sponsered by Scrap Iron so he had no choice)and they had to sort it out after it did all its TV stuff. You could not drive the thing over 80kph with out it tring to leave the road and dive into a bush. Hence why he takes it everywhere on the back of a trailer:) . It was well built to crap with that surpension. More of a show truck at Billing that year

I lent mine to a mate who is a Patrol driver with the warning "it's addictive to watch", to which he replied "doubt it, it's about a Land Rover".

Well I got a call from him the next day, turns out he was up til 3am watching it cause he couldn't turn it off. He wanted to come round with his grinder that day and start on my Disco.

Love the DVD but was a bit dissapointed they didn't show the final product off a bit more.

I take it this is the one where the guy builds a Land Rover onto a 100 inch Range Rover chassis? If so, it's great. I downloaded it via torrent yonks ago.

A definite MUST WATCH if you're a Land Rover fan because in each episode the spend about 5 minutes going on about Land Rover history and showing some weird, wacky and beautiful Land Rovers.

I've also got his other series "An MG is born".
It's also a really good watch. Then again, all his shows were. He builds a plane, a helicopter, motorbike etc ;) They're all good. He's a great host, corny sense of humour and is VERY good at explaining things.

Yes 4x4 is born is one of my favourite shows. I watch it over and over. I enjoyed his E-Type and MGB rebuild ....oh and the Bike one too with the old Harley. I enjoy learning about all the techniques as I have "zip" experience in this. It is certainly aimed at novices like me.

It's an old channel, but we finally got it here in Oz. They've had it overseas for a while. I remember watching it in Indonesia a year ago :)

It's just like any other foxtel channel though. 90% rubbish and almost 100% repeats :p

Would be nice if Foxtel would pay to have some local content produced for some of their channels. At least NatGeo Adventure/Travel seam to encourage people to submit stuff to be broadcast.

I have seen a 4x4 is born, great series, but he has a heap of them.

A motorbike is born
A car is born
A racecar is born
A chopper is born (the flying variety)
A Jaguar is born (this is great this one, he fully restores an E-type he save from a paddock)

im sure there are more but thats all i can think of now.

He does another show that crops up on Discovery Turbo every now and then called Wreck Rescue, he follows the restoration projects of 5 different people from start to finish, 2 episodes per project. Thats also pretty good.

Hey Mick you are very welcome. Thought it worth a quick follow up to say that the two I ordered arrived very quick and the 4x4 one is brilliant and watched the whole lot in three sittings... fantastic stuff.

Got a friend here from England also into 4x4 and he bought a Suzi Sierra for his play time here so just HAD to show him those extras with the English AWD club and their Suzis. :)

Highly recommened...again.

Subasurf that Cobra series is supposed to be excellent as well.
