Didn't take long for one of the new TDV8 Range Rover engines to turn up on ebay. Not sure how you'd go using it in a conversion as you'd have to be an electronics guru to get it going I reckon.

$6000 approx.

Plumber's nightmare ? Are you kidding ? The repair places will love 'em they are counting the extra income now....

As to whether you'd buy it. Sure it was saying 6K (starting price, who knows what his reserve might have been) but there's also the liottle amtter he notes of "requires an ECU" add at least ANOTHER 6K for that I'd reckon. Plus installation.... Plus headaches for years....

Can't see how it would be a proposition at all without the ECU.

Maybe you could get some sort of MOTEC engine management system and graft it on, but imagine the development effort.

Bogus anyway! The TDV8 is a 3.6 litre; being basically two extra pots on the TDV6. The current V8 petrol is a 4.4 litre.

This is what I thought, until I read the specs - V8 is a wider V than the V6

Think the V8 is 90 Degree V where the V6 is more of a 60 Degree V config

Dunno, can't find anywhere that says. But even so, the TDV as offered in the Rangie is 3,630cc.

I am led to believe that a larger engine is being developed for the US market, who currently don't have any diesels io their lineup.
