Finnaly sorted the wifes car!
It's now had:
New head gasket, bolts and all the other gaskets that go with it
New timing chain
New timing chain guides
New thermostat
New thormostat housing
New fuel pump
New pipes
New welsh plugs
Head reconditioned
Obviously new oil, oil filter
New sparks
New leads
And finnaly it starts and runs extreemly smoothly.
I had to remove and fit the thermostat housing 5 times before I could get it to seal:mad:
Should be getting the Landy head back on monday:D . Delay was over the exhaust valves as they couldn't get any.
Landy mechanic is comming out today at 4 to read the codes for the injectors so I will be ready to try and put it all back together. This means I will be mobile sometime soon! Can't wait. Its been way to long and stressfull. Things I have learn't are
Be 100% certain you know what coolant is in your rig when you buy it! Never mix the coolants (I now know for certain it had the wrong stuff in it when I bought it).
Get the vehicle checked before buying and spend any spare $$ from the purchase on some realy good tools so your ready if or when things go wrong. Also insist on mechanics doing the test you beleive are needed regardless of what they say.

JC Big time!
Driving that old camira is starting to drive me nuts. Mechanic read the injector codes yesterday so all I need now is the parts to arrive and the head to be ready and its all go. Mechanic even showed me the correct way to set the cam.

A CAMIRA!!!!?????
At least when my RR is in bits,( It is now actually, again...) I get to flog the LS400 around...I quite like it really, climate control, leather, awesome sound system, 4 litre 32 valve 200Kw V8 making all the right sounds...Ahhh, quite a pleasant interlude from the rattly old 4BD1...
BUT ITS NOT A RANGIE!!!!!!

Souns nicer than my loaner. Had dash lights in it last night for the first time. Took 4 fuses to get the indicators going again once the dash lights started working. There's no stereo, only the passenger lock works, drivers door doesn't seal (It's worse than the defender) doesn't idle most of the time either.
Parts arrived today but I'm still waiting on the Head and exhaust maifold.

Got the Head back and it looks like new! Put the injectors back in and now discovered some of the bits are missing. Now means I can't put it all back together this weekend so will have to wait till next week to get the missing bits.

Become a pessimist instead of an optimist then even a bad week will be good
Ironically this statement sounds like something an optimist would say

Hope so It's cost me thousands withme doing most of the labor. Even the Head was $850 with me supplying all parts. Exhaust manifold cost $100 to skim. It's amazing how quickly the cost can change!
Almost lost it at work on friday. Just got pushed past the point of control. Beat up my desk and went for a long walk, came back and appologised to those I work with and just told them I'm over the edge and shouldn't be here today. First time in my working carrer I have had that feeling on the way to work of stuff it I want a fight. Closer I got the angrier I got. Then when I actually got there everything was already going wrong. At least I left early before I did something stupid.
