Who is condisering making a major purchase/modification to their pride and joy either in the short or long term?

I was speaking with Louis today and we were discussing how as a club there are many members who spend lots of $ on their cars with some mods being the same or similar as another member - perhaps only the time purchased is different. Got me thinking, should we start a club list of desired mods/parts/accessories so that many may take advatange of any bulk discounts going for multiple purchases?

To kick off, I will list a few wants for my truck and those who are keen to update their trucks either in the near future or longer term, please add your list and perhaps we can save some $.

Wants for the mack truck;

1. 9000lb winch
2. Front locker (Maxi or ARBB))
3. Custom rear drawer system
4. Rear diff Guard
5. Steering protection
6. Hi lift jack plus holder
7. Maxi Drop Axles:angel:  :D

"Add to basket and proceed to check out please":D :D

Some major purchases there but I have several smaller items that I also "need" as well;) Lets hear what you want for Christmas and i'll call Father Christmas and see what he can sort out for the club!!

May as well consider the IPF 800xs which are the water resistant ones and have better globes than the 800's. I used to have the 800 and then went for the 800xs as the lenses had degraded due to all the water and mud crossings I had been through:eek:

Anyone else after either lights or Stauns and I will make a call today to see if I can sort a discount out? Only doing it today as Noz is after something PDQ but ordinarily we would give it a bit of time for people to jump on board.

Alright looks like we have a decent list going here. I have a few contacts for some items (as everyone does) so will compile a list of items and take it from there. Custom work is fairly straight forward for those who are club members, i.e. in the near vacinity, more of a challenge for those interstate but i'm sure we can sort something out;)

I'll get a list going soon and make enquiries, Mick

Yep, Exhaust Gas Temperature reading is what i'm after. As i have the BD remapped ECU, my exhaust gases will be running a little hotter so it would be nice to now just how badly I am cooking the thing!! I beleive the TD5 ECU does have some kind of fail safe but if I have a reading then at least I can keep an eye on things before the computer wizardry steps in and effectively throws the whole car into limp mode.

At least that is how I assume the whole set up works:eek:

List getting bigger folks, jump on board for some hopefully large bargains!!!

I'll keep this thread running for now as we only have a few multiples of the same items and therefore probably can't get a great discount. Having said that, for all custom bar, slider, protection kit etc, see Dranged on this thread as i'm sure he can sort out a deal for members etc.
Also I would suggest Drivesafe for all electrical/battery realted items and again, I'm sure he will look after you all.

As for non vehicle specific items, i.e. lights, Stauns, winches etc keep them coming and I'll make some enquiries once I have a few more added to the list.

Body Lift (To fit the LRA suspension)
Front and Rear Lockers (ARB or Maxi)

Compressor and Tank
Off Set Rims (& Tyres yet to decide)

Okay, after some investigation I have managed to agree on a club discount for us at ARB Gold Coast - avge 6% on ARB items. The discount will apply immediately to ARB items only and not on labour. Non ARB items such as IPF, Kaymar, Engel etc may be discounted after seaking to ARB first.

ARB will only apply the discount if an official club card is produced or I ring ahead first or go in with the person, so if anyone is looking to buy any gear from ARB, perhaps they can get you the best price. Until we have our club cards, call me if you are looking to buy from ARB.

Small saving for us all to begin with;)

As for larger or more specialised items go, we will have to play sensible and try to source the best prices possible from a variety of suppliers. Keep the list going and if anyone is about to buy anything, let this thread know and it may prompt someone else in the club to open their wallet at the same time in order to secure a better price.

I'm looking for an ultra low slim line roof rack as well. All the models out there seem to be big wind breaks with or without gerar. If you find one which is actually stream-lined please let me know. I've seen some old County's with just a mesh-like rack which looks perfect.

Hi jimmy...me again. There is a guy in our club who's company makes caravans. He has an extremely slim line roof rack for his 110 defender and it looks the business and works really well by all accounts. Another in our club is looking for the same sort of thing so I will make a few enquiries and see what he can do.

Watch this thread for more info.

Jimmy As Mick said, one of our members is about to make a couple Slimline roofracks for X-box and Outlaws Fenders and maybe one for Camo's classic rangy... should have prices in a couple weeks.

It is basically only around 40mm off the roofline and follows the shape of the roof although he is doing a slightly different design for mine which will incorporate a slight basket at the front to protect the spotties and will give a flat roofline.

I was under the impression that Maxi drive don't manufacture fron't diff locks for the Series II Disco anymore :( . They have a problem with the quality of manufacture of the hubs. You need the hubs to install the axels and you need the stronger axels to install the diff lock.

I have a rear Maxidrive unit installed and would love to have installed a front locker when I had the 4.11 CWPs installed.

Let me know if you know any different.

There has been a few second hand items around that i have not had the money to grab but thought i would get interest from everyone so if i see anything i can let you all know. If you are looking let me know what you are looking to spend on each item. For the lockers let me know what car as most of the ones i have seen are 10 spline (so early disco or rangie from what i know). Just thought i would put it out there.

Hi All,

There are a number of us on AULRO looking at getting some Flares for UK, similar to LRA ones but made from Flexible Plastic and not fibreglass. Price is looking to be about $560 landed but we are looking to see if we can get a bulk order and save on this price.
Link to the Thread is http://www.aulro.com/afvb/showthread.php?t=33424&page=6 if anyone is interested.
The flares in questions can be viewed here http://www.paddockspares.com/pp/NEW_PRODUCTS/Extended_Arches/Flexible_Extended_Arches_for_Disco_1_5dr_and_RR_Cl assic_5dr_-_set_of_4.html

u guys are gonna think i am joking...

Rear MD Locker & Axle upgrade (inc drive flanges)
Front MD Locker & Axle upgrade
MD drive flanges (for front)
MD Portal Hubs (Drop Boxes)
MD Heavy duty Track Bar
MD Heavy duty Drag Link
4.1 Diff Gears

Maxi drive also do the following
30% Tcase reduction gears (for lt230)
PTO winch and drive assembly
Axle upgrades (not locked)

I am currently waiting on further info for the portal hubs which unfortunately are currently not available. If anyone is interested in purchasing any maxi drive items soon let me know I will have a discussion with Mal & Paula and maybe be able to work out a group buy price.
I need definate buyers, not people that are thinking or wishing to buy some lockers etc etc, as I dont wish to waste both my own or Mals time. As a reference the lockers are usually $2000 for supply only each end, then in the front you add $300 for drive flanges and some models (id reccomend it anyways) you will need to source AEU2522 cvs (out of defender) to be fit, and then you have labour ontop of all this.
MD gear isnt cheap, but it is IMHO the best.

Yeah i know, but you know how it is when you like the look of something, reason goes out the window...... :D And atleast with these ones, over the LRA fibreglass ones, they should take more of a beating.
