i went to a couple of places today to get quotes for putting my new tyres on my disco.........
this is what i want done me and ian are swaping rims,
so all the tyres are coming off his rims and my 5 new tyres are going on and all the rims are going on my car.......
now 2 of those tyres taken off are bf's that are hardly worn so those 2 tyres are going to go on my rims, as i to also have 2 bf's that are hardly worn.......now ian will get my rims with 4 hardly worn bf's
does that make sense!!!! well i don't think that is overly complicated
but the guy at bob janes did
 told me that i was just over complicating things, he huff and puffed away, told me to bring the cars in ealry in the morning and NOT on a weekend.......to which i turned around again and said well i would like a quote he continued to huff and puff again and said well we need to work it all out so bring them in, i started to get annoyed at this point and just said well i need a quote as i have just got a quote off a bloke down the road and i would like to compare.......he very reluctantly and eventualy gave me a sort of quote,,,,,thanks for nothing mong head
don't think i will be using them..........

I have done a similar thing in the past, but the tyre blokes just don't seem to understand:angrylock:.
Wherever you get it done make sure you watch that they put the right tyres on the right rims, otherwise you can guarantee they will stuff it up:D
You might also need to find a tyre place that is more interested in their customers:o

Blairs tyres, cnr Forest and Stoney Creek Rd Peakhust, are way more friendly than Bob Jane - and provided you inquire with them when a good time is to do the swap, they'll charge the standard $5 Fitting/balance fee per tyre ( ie $20/car). I know, I've done exactly the same thing.
The only advantage of Bob Jane is that they are like Big W : On the rare occasion they do sell some decent stuff. Like Big W, Kmart and the like, don't expect miracles from the staff.

Having not had the luxury of multiple rims untill I killed Bug 2.0 Ive had all sorts of dramas swaping my ratty sand tyres for the good road tyres. Mainly it was the "mate they dont look legal" thing and I suspect that unless they're selling the tyres they dont make a lot of profit on 45 minutes worth of work for $25 that ties up a worker, change machine and a balancer.
Ive found that if, after hours, you goto a beaurepairs with a young manager, floor staff, 4x4s in the staff carpark and a dozen coldies in the fridge to share while they work seems to get your tyres swapped pretty well.

took both Disco's to Tyrepower in Hervey Bay,,
straight swap,
ended up with the new coopers inside out on the new Disco,,
but was only $100,,,
but, one of the new coopers on the new Disco went flat--
so they fixed the bead and swapped the tyres round for nothing,,
except the $20 fuel to get there and back---
is it really that complicated?

I went thru all this just 2 weeks ago, 3 sets of tyres and 2 sets of rims, at's off 1 set that were sold, muds off another set that then went in place of the at's, another 4 at's that went on in place of the muds - complicated, yes but the guys at my local tyre place did no probs over 2 days.

Got a set done here at yass. Cost $80 to swap them over and when I cam to collect they claimed they had had to fit tubes so it bacame $160. At least they had no problems with my wishes and had everything ready to go.

if you pick up a nail in a tubed tyre it will go down straight away......
a tubeless tyre may not go down at all....or it will go down slowly......might even take weeks........

Chears for that I have never driven a vehicle with tubes other than a pushbike.

All they should need to do is give you a quote on removing the tyres, and then reffiting and balancing them, isnt rocket surgery really now is it. Glad its all sorted dullbird. Matt
