Well that was an experience, almost not enjoyable but as the D1 didnt end up laying on its side and only receive some minor panel and paint damage, it was a great days 4wding.

Thankyou to Trav and the rest of the guys for the day, I dont think I could have joined a club with a better bunch of people ( must be something to do with owning a Rover ;) ) .

Hope you got home ok Dranged.

Looking forward to the next trip, and will see you soon Dranged for some protection equipment:eek:

Hey Noz

Yep what a day and I agree what a good bunch of people. Tracks were challenging, and mate that near roll onto your side, I had the microphone in my hand, but no words came out. Well done to give it the right boot and drive out of it. Yep detonating the rear diff was a bummer, but the harder you play, makes you pay!. Its given 20 years service, and the last 10 mainly off road working hard,so its entitled to let go. Got home ok but, had to put the locker in and let down the front tyres to get up my access road. Go to the stage when the tractor was thought of, but she got up.

Thanks again to all that helped. And to the think tank for the sealing of the axle. Lost about 20ml of oil all up.Not bad eh.

Good wheel travel and great D2 wheel stands were the course of the day, although Tomos 3.5 reving at 53000rpm was a chilling sound. Are you sure your centre diff was in Tomo???????.Some people can get away with it. If I did that to my old 2 door, or Dranged, it would send parts into orbit. Its a shame the mozzies were so bad where we were fixing my diff, as a couple of brews and a sit down were looking great.

Will put it on the hoist tomorrow and drop the centre out. Can someone PM me and tell me how the post photos and I will.

Regards Justin

PS Kathryn did'nt hit me up for another horse Mick, just a new saddle.( I hav'nt told her that both centres have to be changed) sshhhhhhh

Glad you got home okay Justion. I wasn't keen leaving the group (I was the trip leader after all) but I had to get back in time as I was going out for tea last night. Mick must of found his way out of Beerwah, it's not too hard (find a main gravel road and keep going coast-bound I discovered).

Well, I think we all had some carnage.

Tomo's rear air locker wasn't working so it was 5000 rpm job to get anywhere as the Rangie kept blowing fuses. Somehow ARB had wired his air locker into the ingnition not direct to the battery 9that's how I would of done it especially on dodgy Lucas electrics).

I've either broken a CV or stub axle and also I had a flat at the servo. I was just aboyut to re-inflate my last tyre and when I pushed on the valve the entire valve took off inside the tyre    Never seen that before. Put the spare on and it was all good. To add to the list, my ARB bar is now about 3 inches closer to the Rangie's bonnet after misjudging a tree.

NOZ I guess had more pannel carnage than anything as his Disco had the least ground clerance but did well all the sme.

Mick, can't recall if he did anything . Hardy was carnage-free (made up for his at the Ipswitch cay trip a few months back). Geoff also was den't and mechanical damage free.

Glad you all enjoyed the trip. Keen to run another maybe early next year sometime and maybe damage-free. But I always say that these sort of trip will incur damage at some point, you get lucky somethimes and luike yesterday, not so lucky.

Have yet to look at the video, didn't get as much as I liked but hard to run a trip and take vids.

I think this was a good day to have missed but you lot sound like you had fun ( of sorts ) anyway.

Hope none of the damage is too expensive to fix.

Cheers.

Mick, can't recall if he did anything .

Washed the car this morning only to discover that I have pushed in the trim on both the passenger side doors and slightly buckling them.........oh well you get but I had fun doing it!!

No one got hurt, so anything else is cheap no matter what;)

Exactly........although clearly we are a club which brakes things from time to time, I would still consider us to be a very safe club.......and as said before, a club with a great bunch of folks:D

Looking forward to the next trip but like you Noz, a trip to Justin's for some extra body protection I think;)

Cheers for the day Trav, and yes we found our way out eventually albeit after driving for some time down some new roads.....Jeff got us out;)

Well the diff is knackered as you can see,but as NOZ said we all had a few moments but no one got hurt. Definately a reflection on the club and its members.

Regards Justin Go to galleries and look at Dranged album for a close up pic.

Its got to be the worst noise you can hear when trying to climb steep rock steps. looks like I will be saving for a set of 4:1 CW&P from Maxidrive.Hopefully it will then go back to screwing driveshafts instead??

Anyone got any Unimog Diffs??????????????????

Yep I will be giving Maxidrive a call in the morning and see what the damage will be. Thank god I already have the lockers. Counted the teeth and made sure they were 3.54-1 and yep they were.

How many ding tally points do a crown wheel and pinion get???????????

Matt was his name and I hope he has some pics. What we should really do is on each trip we should asign a designated camera man/woman who's job is to follow each car through each obsticle........we have had some great moves missed due to lack of paparazzi;) Hope we have some footage/pics of Noz's "recovery" and gutted we missed Justin detonating his diff.

Still yet to look at the video I took, but try and throw it together ASAP.

I didn't get as much as I liked (missed Justin's little 'incident', I was on my way down and then heard the delightful sound of shared pinion gear teeth  ) but should have some good stuff of earlier tracks we did.

I've been slack, I still have yet to edit the Coffs Harbour trip :(

Yep, know how you feel. I used to work nights and weekends and found it awfully difficult to get out on trips and missd out a fair bit.

Plus doing mods to your LR has it's sacrifices such as attending trips and many other factors in life.
